Since downloadng iPhoto 9.4,sending photos via Outlook 11 email programme no longer works .

With Outlook  as the preferred email programme set in Preferences ,the dialogue box appears and once Compose Message is pressed , it loads ,then nothing happens .

If one sets Mail as your preferred email prograqmme , this works as per normal .

Anyone have a fix??

I am running Mountain Lion 10.8.2 on my new Retina MacBook Pro and on my MacPro Desktop. I also have the latest Outlook version 14.2.4 on both. On my MacBook Pro I have upgraded to iPhoto 9.4. On the MacPro Desktop I am still running iPhoto 9.3.2. In version 9.4 of iPhoto I cannot email photos using Outlook 14.2.4. Outlook will open if it's not already running but it will not build a message with a photo attached. However, 9.3.2 of iPhoto will still send a picture using Outlook 14.2.4 on OS 10.8.2. It's something with the 9.4 update but since it upgraded my libraries I'm stuck with it. I cannot revert to the working version, 9.3.2. Please help.

FYI this is the console log when this fails on my MacBook Pro. When I try this on the working system, nothing gets thrown into console.

I have just gotten off the phone with Apple Support in Austin. They tried very hard to blame Misrosoft but I also tried very hard to get them to listen to the argument that this could actually be an all Apple issue. I let them know I wasn't expecting a magical fix today, I just wanted to report the problem so it could be looked at internally. Sure, Microsoft might have to change their AppleScript but I highly doubt it. If you look at the console output above you'll see that iPhoto never even gets a chance to talk to Outlook.  Sandboxing can be great. Secure. Maybe sometimes too secure.  If you have not updated to 9.4...don't.

OS X 10.8.2 with Outlook 14.2.4 and iPhoto 9.3.2 still works fine.  Unfortunately, if you've already opened your libraries in 9.4 you can't go back to 9.3.2 because the library does get changed when you open it in 9.4.

    Stay tuned...

Well, folks it is not a Microsoft problem, because export from Mac Mail 6.1 to iPhoto 9.40 or 9.41 doesn't work either.  When I ask for a photo in Mail to be exported to iPhoto, nothing happens.  iPhoto does not even open.  The only solution is to save the photo to the desktop (or wherever) from Mail and then import it into iPhoto.  Hmpfff.  This is a real pain in the neck.  Maybe when Apple takes a break from fixing their new map app, they'll take time to fix these problems.

Well folks you have to say why do they do this?

This is supposed to be one of the finest electronics  companies in the world  and it just leaves a bad taste.

Already we have problems  with exporting contacts  from Outlook for Mac and now it seems that just as a niggle we will box you in by converting your library into a non backward format and not enter the code to use a Microsoft program so you have to use the native Mail. Why let Microsoft make Outlook for Mac in the first place if you are going to have these petty wars.

I have just returned  from holiday  and downloaded  all my stuff to i photo only  to find I cannot  e mail easly  (as before ) my family  the stuff they would like to see.

Somebody  needs to do their homework before rushing out a new version of a much used programme.

I thought those days were  over.

    Sadly

    David

No, 9.4.1 DOES NOT address the email photos from iPhoto using Outlook. It may fix some other issues but it does not address the email from iPhoto problem. Not happy...

Same here.  Following thread in the event there is a workaround / resolve at some point.  In the interim I have reverted to using iPhoto and my .mac account to send photos.

I was told too that it was a 'sandbox compliance' issue on the third party vendor (Microsoft).

    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4391?viewlocale=en_US

Tha fact that iPhoto 9.3.2 as stated above by richfromcoppellworks with 10.7.5 contradicts their conclusion.

I started a new thread this morning, on this issue, without realizing this thread was already here.

I am also having a peculiar problem when using OS X Mail with iPhoto.

Here's a copy of my thread question:

I am unable to send email with iPhoto 9.4.1 through Outlook for Mac 2011.

Outlook shows up as a choice in iPhoto preferences, but when I try to send an email, nothing happens.

If I shut down Outlook and then try to send, the only thing that happens is Outlook opens.

So, iPhoto can open Outlook, but that's as far as it goes.

As a side issue, I can send email with iPhoto through OS X Mail, however the email message is not brought forward on the screen as it used to do.

I have to hunt for it behind whatever else is open at the time.

    Strange.

Unfortunately you are having the same problem with 9.4/9.4.1 that we are. No issues with 9.3.2 but unfortunatley you can't go back once your database has been updated to 9.4. No resolution from Apple yet.

Is anyone able to create a new Outlook e-mail and drag their photos from iPhoto to the message body of the new e-mail?  This appears to work for me.  It is only the 'sharing' via Email that isn't working from within iPhoto, correct?

    Thanks.
