Just wanted to report that the iPhone was tested at the Apple store this morning (ps make appt if you go or expect long wait) , confirmed inoperative wi fi button, tried restoring it (no dice). Confirmed it as a hardware malfunction. They replaced the 4s phone which I had bought in Jan, with another 4s which he activated with my carrier on the spot.

Next he updated the new phone from OS 5 to 6. I said  WAIT! lets think about that a moment because that was the source of the prob. He suggested that we do it and if it didn't work it would give them more date to be able to determine an ultimate fix. Made sense, so he updated it to 6.

I mentioned that if it was a hardware failure it must have been a result of the firmware update which accompanied the update to OS 6 of last weekend. He did not disagree with that.

The oddest thing to me about the experience is that the greyed out wi-fi button worked normally and I could access my home network Monday morning until Tuesday afternoon, but before and after that- nothing.

I did not change or try to change anything in my home network (cable internet to airport) other than the regular nightly turning them off.

So two hours later, all is still running right. If you are not near an apple store? what? to your phone service provider or via snail mail to apple? Good luck. Signing off for now unless...

I've had issue with new Iphone 5 . My home WIFI doesn't work. But all my other stuff like iPhone 4, 4s, iPad 2' laptop and more are working normally. With the new Iphone 5 it doesn't works. When I go to any web site, it'll works for like a couple of min. Then it stop completely. I called apple support they said it could be my wifi network not set up right. ( I had use my wifi network for over 10 yrs. no problem until they UPDATED this Iso6.  I had this phone test at RadioShack store it did the same thing too. one of the salesman there had an iPhone 5 too , his was working in his store and at his house. But not my Iphone 5. Why?  .he thinks may be I should buy a new router. It doesn't make any different when 2 iPhone 5 connecting to the same wifi network but 1 worked and my phone doesn't . WEIRD WEIRD WEIRD ,((((this is not the wifi network problem, it's the phone and the new software it's self.)))) PLEASE REPLY WITH NEW INFO.

I hate ios6... Who tests this stuff out.  Very basic to make sure wifi works.  Straighten up Apple and fix this and call it ios6x.

APPLE WIFI ISSUE.    You know we should just open it from the box and use it without problem. But why are we talking to each other for APPLE SCREWD -UP or even try to fix it for ours self. Apple should do all this before they sold their phones. It was just not fair for us. We paid big buck for their ZJUNK.  I've been working on this since I got mine 4 days ago and still won't work. Software screwed up not our WIFI NET WORK.

    Thanks apple product

Just got my ipad to connect to wifi by changing the channel number on my wifi router from 10 to 6. Why you need to do this very techy change just because you upgrade to ios6 is beyond me!

I was having issue with my first Iphone 5 not connect to my home wifi or even some free wifi hot spot. But today just got it exchanged and it seams to work with my wifi. {{{WARNING }}}Some iPhone 5 didn't work right some if you plan to get one make sure you connect to wifi hot spot after you bought it before heading home. I didn't check mine when I bought it because the store who sold it to me doesn't have wifi.

I'm still no further forward after raising this with Apple 4th Oct. I upgraded to ios6 on my 3gs and started to notice wifi dropping off. Apple insisted it was a hardware fault and wanted me to pay £127 to have my phone serviced. I told them I wouldn't do this as I was waiting for iphone 5 to arrive and also it worked fine before ios6! They then blamed my router even though all other gadgets, including new ipad with ios6, connected fine. The tech guys at Apple care have tried loads of stuff with me and been great, which is more than I can say for their customer service team, but still no further forward! To cap it all when my iphone 5 arrived on Monday that didn't work either - so now waiting fro Apple to swap that! Come on Apple, this is just not good enough.

Nov 22, went do to the Apple Store in Vancouver, they told me, "No nobody has this problem", November 26, talked to a tech support from Apple...would you believe they have not heard about this problem, pass me to their supervisor who, again, have not hear anything about this and reassured me he would be one of first person to know that is was an issue! STRANGER things have happen, ALIENS HAVE LANDED!!! and they still have not heard of the problem.

What is worst is that the rep made me feel incompetent that it was me, that I have not upgraded to the lastest version, or my modem was NOT CONNECTED PROPERLY or NEEDS UPGRADING, but REFUSES TO BELIEVE THAT THE SOFTWARE THAT MAY HAVE A GLITCH!!!  Did he not know the first principle...anything that happens intermittently (log on initially but not later) is usually a software problem.

I want back my IOS5 software... All this frustration...I ready to give up on Apple Products...

Oh and by the way, if you tell them you wish you hadn't upgrade (which I am not going to do on my iphone), they will tell you that newer apps will not work unless you have IOS5...what a promo buzz.
