Oct 2, 2012 6:49 AM in response to kcl168by iNinja7,Thanks. I got pretty confused on how iOS 6 already gives the option yet when sending from the email, doesn't prompt that it needs to be verified first, but an error type message. Hope it doesn't take too long.

Oct 2, 2012 7:01 AM in response to iNinja7by kcl168,I looked further in the Setting Mail Account iCloud, and tape on Account then Advanced/Mail, it actually already showing both @me.com and the new @icloud.com under "Allow Sending From", something new in IOS6? However the the @icloud.com option is greyed out. You may want to check if yours is selectable. I guess if not we have to wait till Apple notify us when the icloud.com version is usable for sending/receiving. good luck, cheers

Oct 2, 2012 7:22 AM in response to kcl168by andysquirrel,I have it on good authority that Apple is in the process of enabling email sent to @icloud.com addresses for existing @me.com and @mac.com users, please wait for the email to say that it has been set up before you use it.

Oct 2, 2012 7:40 AM in response to iNinja7by DenaliDad,5441 says "It will take a few weeks for Apple to grant you access to your new @icloud.com email address." How long is "a few weeks?" I've had my iPhone 5 as long as others and have not received the email yet; I cannot access my me.com email on my phone, which is irritating.

Oct 2, 2012 7:45 AM in response to DenaliDadby andysquirrel,There shouldnt be any issues recieving email sent to @me.com addresses.

Oct 2, 2012 8:18 AM in response to andysquirrelby DenaliDad,I figured out a workaround to READ the email; I cannot SEND any, however, because the iPhone5 is set up for the iCloud.com address, which is why I need the password.

Oct 2, 2012 9:13 AM in response to DenaliDadby andysquirrel,I suggest signing out of icloud and sign back in using your @me.com address, then check your mail settings to make sure its using your @me.com address. I would turn off the ability to send from @icloud.com for now by going into settings, mail contacts calendars, icloud account, tap your icloud account again, then go to advanced mail, and turn off "allow sending from" @icloud.com

Oct 2, 2012 9:59 AM in response to andysquirrelby DenaliDad,There is no iCloud account listed. The only ones are a Gmail account and a me.com account. In the "Default Account" list, ONLY the iCloud account shows up. There is no way to change it; any time I go to any mail account, I am asked for the password to my iCloud account, which I don't have yet.

Oct 2, 2012 10:12 AM in response to andysquirrelby DenaliDad,Thanks, Andy. It's not an issue with the Apple ID. It's an issue with the iCloud email password, which I do not have. That's why I'm wondering when the email from Apple will come; I see many folks already have iCloud.com addresses, but not me. I've had my me.com since MobileMe, long ago. I guess I will just wait. I am really very disappointed in how Apple has handled this iOS 6 release. I cannot imagine it happening like this under Steve Jobs.

Oct 2, 2012 11:06 AM in response to kcl168by iNinja7,The allow sending from means you can choose to send from me.com or icloud.com. And the grayed out email is the default email you chose. (I switched icloud.com as the default and it grayed out the same email for sending from because its the default same applies if me.com is default, it becomes grayed out and icloud.com is selectable). What's confusing is how Apple did this. Giving us the option to choose it already on iOS 6 and not being able to yet until "a few weeks" as you and others have said with this email they'll give us. It even says in settings that both addresses get the same email so whoever sends to me.com you can access with icloud.com, yet as of now, sending to icloud.com just gives an error message and makes an "outbox" and puts that mail in it.

Oct 2, 2012 11:11 AM in response to iNinja7by andysquirrel,iOS 6 was released before @icloud.com email addresses were set up.
