How can I get Wifi if "http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html" is blocked?

I installed iOS6 on iPad2 and now cannot get WIFI because "http://www.apple.com/library/test/success.html" is blocked by the company I work for.

When changing to local Wifi it appears iOS6 now dictates a handshake on the apple site.

It worked before on iOS5. What can be done? Why can't Apple set up "non apple" alternative success site?

Look at iOS Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398

iPad: Issues connecting to Wi-Fi networks http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3304

iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4199

Additional things to try.

Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html

Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Thanks Tom but none of your links are applicable. Seen most before anyway.

The issue is clear. Now I am on iOS6, apple appear to require that their success page is accessed. In my case ensuring that I am screwed since that page is blocked. Before iOS6 apple.com was blocked, (to stop people using itunes), I could use wifi for email and surfing non apple sites.

Big mistake applying iOS6 😟

I've had the same problem at work. After I got home I went to the test page. Then I added it to my reading list. Then I put my phone in airplane mode and entered the address into safari. It "loaded" the page. I will see what happens at work tomorrow and report back. Obviously if I am on a network that requires a logon Ill have to delete this page, but I'll deal with it. This has caused me a lot of frustration and I am disappointed with Apple.

Thanks Zeus78. Good idea, but I tried same, but with no success. Pun intended.

Caught the problem at an opportune time. I was thinking of purchasing a macbook like my daughter had the previous week. Presumably they have the same serious limitation as the ipad. Waitin to see the MS Surface now.

I feel sure that it is a problem that will grow. For instance, it will be a waste of time for any salesman to bring one to our company to demonstrate a video of their product and expect to connect to our wifi. If I keep this ipad and a solution appears, it will be a long time before I install any "upgrades". Meantime, I have a wobbly table that needs just about an ipad thickness....

I get your idea and have a similar solution to the ITNazi's when absolutely necessary. I am glad to add your suggestion to my arsenal. 🙂

However, it does not help to log on to the wifi in the first place in order to use these, delightfully, underhanded procedures.

It is a shame this happened. I was really enthusiastic about my ipad. At least I can still laugh at the Savador Dali bridges on the ipad at home on my personal wifi.

You're right, that doesn't work. It is now embarrassing to own a iPhone 5 at work. Can't even connect to the wifi. I'm tired of the ridicule but mostly I'm tired trying to figure this out. I can't get a cell signal inside the building, so my phone is next to worthless at work. I have to carry my laptop to meetings again to check my email.

We have a pond out back. I've been wondering if I could skip my iPhone across the surface to the other side. I bet it would go further then your iPad...

Of course. You think they care? Or know how to? Well after they have opened the box and installed the software, its job done and wait for 5.00pm. Even our local library is blocked. Want to search info about a pin or a shaft? No .. Big blue screen "Blocked for pornsite". Never happened with TELEX. Could bring abot a TELEX revival.
