    109841 views with 1,229 replies  are useless if people don't pick up the phone and create a support request with Apple.

     

    Apple does not consider these forums for technical support. The more calls they get related to the same issue the faster they will start working on it and send out updates or recalls (whatever they decide to do).

     

    I did my share already.. have you done yours?

    true.

    apple support confirmed yesterday they do NOT come to the forums. they only consider calls when looking up  issues.

    Got my replacment phone last night and was so happy that it worked fine on my network. Well that lasted 4 hours then nothing. Funny thing is I can watch videos from my air video server no problem just no internet access. Now im at work using WEP and still cant get internet but can use services from inside the network. Im ready to give up and buy a different phone.

    i called support today. the tech did not seem aware of the issue, but will be passing the message to the engineering department. he sounded genuinely helpful.

     

    its such a frustrating issue. a phone without wifi nowadays is as good as dead. here's hoping they approve my replacement phone soon.

    I called customer service. It seems they DONT'T KNOW the wifi issues. Friday I change the device with a new one.

     

    So guys move on and CALL Apple customare service.

    Again the wifi chip in the 5 is the Broadcom BCM4334 I am not sure why Intel/Apple is attached to the MAC address lookups.  I think this has something to do with driver Apple is using to drive the chip. There is no Apple/Intel chip

    ccpzcp may be in the same boat I am. I also sold my GS3 (whoops) in order to purchase an iPhone 5. I used a "partial" upgrade in order to get the price reduced - this "partial" upgrade only extends my contract for 1 year and can ONLY be used towards iPhones. Therefore, if I return this iPhone, I will be unable to upgrade to anything else, and in turn, be **** out of luck. Totally stuck.

    I finally got my iPhone 5 swapped, I took it into Regent Street London and the guy on the Genius Bar immediately knew of the problem and swapped it without any hesitation. Thankfully was a brand new devices they swapped it with.

     

    Apple Customer service then called me yesterday and asked why I went to swap the phone when I had a case open since Monday 24th October, I replied I wasnt happy after spending £699 on a phone which didnt do what Apple says it does. So the technician then simpathised and said he understood my frustration of waiting so long for them to raise it with hardware engineers.

     

    I asked whether he knew what the issue was and he declined to comment and just said if I did still have the device that Apple wanted to capture the device to do testing on it, whatever thats supposed to mean anyway was too late as I got it swapped.

     

    New phone works perfect so I am now happy, however I think Apple should have pulled there finger out sooner and helped all of us here who had this issue.

     

    If anyone else has the WPA problem, I suggest getting your phone swapped!

    I have been trying to get a refund on mine. AT&T says they can't do it, because I do not have the same phone (it has been replaced once at an Apple store) Apple store says they can not do it because I did not "purchase it from them. So in lieu of that info, I guess it is safe to say I am genuinely screwed on getting a refund!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would love to just use my IP4 which still works flawlessly

    I've responded and posted in a couple of forums now.  I don't know how often it is applying to this particular group but I have an iphone 4s.  My 4s worked perfectly fine before the iOS update so it is NOT a hardware problem for me but it has the same symptoms as alot of people.  After I updated to iOS 6, I noticed that my emails were not being received on my phone in a timely fashion, sometimes hours after the email was sent.  I am on a corporate infrastrucure, as a matter of fact 1,000's of employees in my company have this phone globally because it has been the corporate standard since January.  In the last week, I also have noticed that apps a throwing connectivity errors.  This not just a Wi-fi issue as this is happening on cellular data as well.

     

    I have logged a support ticket as with most people Apple has not heard of this before my call, TODAY.  I'm testing a theory around homesharing by disabling it.  I also have never had iCloud enabled so I'm starting now and I know that is not the issue.  I've also noticed that Siri has been detoriating in responsiveness.  Something is aggressively running in the background of the iOS at different times.  I'll let you know what I find out.

    Interesting, the web version of your message is different that what I  actually got in an email copy. The web version is correct on the chip number with an added quote from Barrons.

     

    The complete email message I got instead was:

    Wierd huh? The email message is definitely wrong, but I have no idea if you wrote that first and then edited it with the correct chip  information subsequently.

    I just recieved my replacement and it works perfectly. Where i use to get <1Mbit with the old one i now got speed around 20-30Mbit/s so it's a huge improvement in both speed and range.

     

    It's crazy that Apple continue to ignore the issue, this is starting to get pretty massive by now.

    I don't know how you could tell what processes are running, but there's a method of using Wireshark through your PC or MAC to figure out what packets are going back and forth, to the Internet which  would be helpful to find out for example if the DHCP was working correctly, or whether DNS was working properly. Malware can't be ruled out yet at this stage.

    What is your theory about home sharing. I ask because now that you mention it I have been racking my brains to figure out why I didnt notice my problem the first few days I had my phone but suddenly I started having wifi issues when I would come home from work. The only thing I could think that I had done, was do a restore to unlock my phone. But now that you mentioned this, it was right after I did a restore and hadnt reloaded my music that I turned on homesharing. I had been thinking it could have been something with the restore, but now I realize I changed this as well.
