Q: i want to restore my Mac BookAir to bran new

i would really like to erase it all and start again... what must i do...

    Find the USB stick that came with the MBA, insert it and reboot holding the "Option" key. Select Disk Utility and do an erase and then reinstall the OS, if you turn the system foo as it restarts it will start up like brand new with the original "Welcome" intro.

    First, if you want to save anything on your hard drive, back it up, as otherwise everything will be erased.

     

    You want to use the software reinstall drive that came with your system.  Attach the drive and boot holding the alt/option key, choose the OS X drive to boot from. Then follow directions here and here to do an erase and install.

    Mine shipped with a USB Stick disk (same vintage), there aren't any disks as there isn't a Superdrive on the MBA
