Well, thats what I am hoping for. Someone in Apple is actually CARING to read this so that they fix the bug. I am hoping to restore and reconfigure my iPhone 4 x 2 so that the "bug" gets fixed by some miracle. One of them won't even take a regular SMS text message would you believe????
Funny thing is I had absolutely NO problems with the iPhone 3GS x 2 which have been working without any glitzes. Of course they both don't have Factime so that issue is mute and academic in this case. But why woule iMessage work wonders on the upgrade of a 3GS (my kids) and not on the 4? Am wondering if there is anything on the iPhone 4 that is conflicting with the upgrade. All 4 units are AT&T so am not sure what the is going on. At least I have WhatsApp as well as Viber, both faboulous apps that even lets you message all other Androids and is not iPhone to iPhone only. What is this? A "monopoly" going sour?

The problems seems to be unique to persons device and model. Been hearing a lot of different scenarios.
My latest development on the issue; iMessage was working on my iPhone and iPod on my own home network but my iPod would not send messages on my work network. So I did a settings reset on both devices and tried again when I got back to work and at first my iPod still would not send messages. So I turned iMessage off and then back on and connected my iPhone to my work network and sent a message from it and then it started working on my iPod. We'll see how long it works. The problem may return tomorrow after I leave my work network and then return to it.
Does apple have a contact to report problems to? This link should be emailed to them.

Like everyone else I have the random, daily failures of iMessage and/or FaceTime since the IOS6 upgrade. Everything was stable before the upgrade. All settings are ok, I have tried all tasks to reset, login etc. never works directly, the iMessage simply stops and starts work when it feels like it. Clearly this is a bug and does not require and an not be resolved by User troubleshooting.
When is this to be resolved, I paid the for this "free" feature and I expect to be able to use what I pay for, this is not acceptable

i have an ipad 2 and ipod touch 4th gen and both devices are having the same problems with imessage. I have even tried using a different imessage accounts, but i still get the same results. what i have found is that whenever the device wifi resets for whatever reason, imessage will stop working. None of the sloutions posted on here such as reset have produced a reiable fix to where it will fix the imessage problem consistently.
sometimes reseting will make imessage work again. sometimes not doing anything and leaving it alone for a few hours, imessage will magically begin working again. but the common theme among both devices is that whenever the wifi gets reset, imessage will stop working.
it's almost like ios 6 is preventing the wifi from authenticating properly or restricting the flow of data. either way this is most certainly a software bug and we are just going to have to wait patiently for apple to release an update. i'm sure that they are aware of the problem as there have been several threads about this issue

i have an iphone 4 running ios 6. i had an inquiry, u know when u send imessenger, it gives a "delivered" under the message u sent when it gets delivered and a "read" when it gets read, provided that the person has those options active. my question is that if i send an imessenger and i get the "delivered" then i accidently delete the conversation before getting teh "read" (and i know that the other person has that "read" option active) can this affect texting in any way? or can it trap the phone in any sort of loop trying to relay the "read" note and not finding teh conversation since it was deleted?
it sounds a bit weird, but i thought that might happen

no resets have worked for me. BUT I used Siri and said "iMessage (contact name)". now whenever I go to message that contact it registers as an iMessage. so for the time being I suggest to do that for the contacts you want to iMessage. hope this works for y'all!

This is really wierd. I do regret updating both my phone and ipad.
The funny thing is that I get a message telling me that either my login or password is incorrect.
I hope Apple sort this issue out.

Good luck waiting for Apple to sort it out. It's been THREE weeks now since I updated and am STILL having that same problem you described with login/incorrect password. And, like you, it's the same password and login we use to post here so it's obviously correct.
I have not updated my 4S and i WON'T be making that mistake.

After 2 weeks of Imessage working only when it wanted to I called Apple and reached a very helpful gentleman. Ultimately what we decided needed to be done was a full restore back to new. The reaseon behind this decision was because I had updated over my wifi connection, which sometimes can be picky and he felt that some thing might have gotten dropped or missed in the installation. To prove this theory we backed up my Ipad, completed the restore and tried Imessage. Worked like a charm. I then restored my Ipad using my backup, which we had just made - Imessage would not work. Went thru the restore to new and again, Imessage started working. If you choose to try this route, make sure you have everything you want to reinstall on your device backed up or saved somewhere (icloud is a good starting point). Also make sure you know the password to any apps that you will be putting back on your device that requires passwords.
