Q: How do I set up a mobile-only filter for exchange email?

Hi! This is a question about the Microsoft Exchange Server mail.

How do I set up a filter that applies only to my iPhone? Basically, I want a set of emails to show up in the inbox on the computer, but not the inbox on my phone. For instance, I want emails from xyz@xyz.com to skip my iPhone mail inbox, but still appear in the inbox when I look at it from Outlook on the computer.

Thanks!

iPhone 5, iOS 6

That would be done with a rule created with Outlook on your computer.

You can not set up filters on the phone. You would have to do it in Outlook/Exchange.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any way you could set things up so that items appear in one inbox, but not the other. ActiveSync provides for full sync between the server and ALL clients. If it's in the inbox, it's in the inbox.

Yes, but I can't seem to find a rule on the Outlook which allows me to specify inboxes based on mobile devices. Is there a custom action that can be written / downloaded?

That's because there is none. You can NOT have more than one Inbox in your Exchange account.

I'm trying to tell you that you can NOT do what you want.

At best, you could create a separate folder and set a rule in Outlook to move the messages in question to that folder, but they will NOT appear in your inbox in Outlook after that.
