Does the phone HAVE to be unlocked?

    Do you mean APN settings?

what exactly did you do with the T-Mobile sim...you have to follow the instructions exactly.

Tell me what you did so I can help you.

I don't think so.  Mine is but that doesn't really mean anything.  As  long as you can access the APN settings you can fix this.

APN settings are only accessable in unlocked phones.  They are "locked" in a carrier locked phone - that's the whole point of locking!

    1. I opened "notes" app then returned to home screen.

    2. Went into Settings - General - Cellular

    3. Removed AT&T sim and put in T Mobile

No APN settings appeared.  I tried this about 5 times.

No APN settings show becuase your phone is locked to AT&T.

I'm beginning to realize that. All the fixes online seem to be for unlocked phones. I doubt AT&T will unlock it for me; I'm also guessing you can't unlock a phone on iOS6.

Ok here's exactly what I did.

    Popped AT&T sim out

    Popped T-Moblie Sim in

Opened up Settings>General>Cellular> now there is a new option for Cellular Data Settings (not previously there)

    Open that up.

At this time my phone rebooted as expected.

Put back in the AT&T sim

When I went back into Settings now that screen was still open and allowed me to enter my APN settings for Go Phone.

If your doesn't then it sounds like you are stuck because you are on a locked phone.

    Hope this helps!!!

So, after all this hope, our iPhones have to be UNLOCKED in order for the T-Mobile SIM/APN settings to work?!

Heh heh, I'll never be able to send pictures again...

No, if your phone is NOT unlocked, then you can just go to EBay like I did and pay the $7.00 to have it IMEI unlocked. It worked perfectly for me, and now I'm sending and receiving pictures on the AT&T GoPhone.

I'm editing my video now. Hopefully I'm done by tomorrow. It's tough to get all of this done when I have crazy amounts of homework and work. :/

OK, I've ordered an unlock code off Ebay and will try to unlock the phone when I receive it. It cost me $15 which is what the inactive T Mobile sim cost me too.  I will post my results in a few days.

Do you think the unlock code will actually solve the problem? Does that make the phone OFFICIALLY unlocked?

So it looks like I will have to buy an unlock code AND a T-Mobile SIM card from eBay?
