If this solution does not work, the only option would be that suggested by Apple Support. They said I could get another iPhone 4 for $150.

I'm disappointed no Apple experts have chimed in. Surely there has got to be another way.

Apple doesn't participate in this forum. Read the ToU.

Even if they did, they're not likely to help people use GoPhone which AT&T specifically excludes from smartphone use. I suspect Apple deliberately broke the MMS for goPhone. Also wouldn't expect them to help hack to unlock from AT&T.

I'm under contract with AT&T and have no interest in hacking anything. I just want my phone to be fully functioning again.

If you have a standard AT&T plan, and your phone has NEVER been hacked/jailbroken/unlocked, there should be no problem with MMS.  Know many people with iOS 6 on AT&T with no MMS problem.

See my previous post for contradictory evidence.

modular747...I've tried all that with AT&T and Apple support and it didn't work. Did you not read previous posts?

Having said that, just got off the phone with Apple support for the third time and they got it to work. Bethany, do the following steps:

    Turn off imessage and mms

    restart phone

    turn imessage on

    turn mms back on

This fixed the problem for me. Maybe it will work for you. Tech said it "reset the mms count"...whatever that means.

You said you restarted everthing before.  Did it not work the first time?

Not much evidence there at all. For years, people have had problems with MMS with AT&T which always turned out to be either incorrect or corrupted settings, defective phones, or "inadvertent" disabling of MMS service by AT&T which took SEVERAL calls to discover.

I reset settings, reset network settings, restored to backup, then finally reset to factory. Also tried tricks from AT&T tech support and Apple support. Finally got transferred around in Apple support to someone with this trick. I never did those steps before, no.

So the fact that they went through my settings no less than 4 times with me, restored and replaced my phone - and I STILL have problems is not evidence enough for you?

Interesting that I've been with AT&T since 2005 and have never had problems with my MMS before - equally interesting that my problems (that are supposedly on AT&T's end) would coincide with the moment that I updated to iOS 6...

Hey, so once I updated to iOS 6 I was no longer able to send MMS messages but could still send iMessages. I have an iPhone 4 factory unlocked for T-Mobile and this worked for me.

    Settings > Wi-Fi >  Wi-Fi OFF

Settings > Messages > MMS Messaging OFF

Settings > General > Cellular > Enable 3G OFF Data Roaming ON

Cellular Data Network > Cellular Data

Have we heard from Apple as to when they are going to fix this problem with messaging?

Apple doesn't participate in this forum, and rarely announces fixes in advance.  In this case, virtually all reporting in this forum are using GoPhone and other plans and carriers not meant for iPhone use.  Not likely that Apple would "fix" these (if they didn't deliberately break it...)
