I have had enough of waiting. Booked in with Genius Bar at my local store and have replaced my phone with a new one on 5.1.1. I will upgrade at a later date when Apple, or Alpine do an update. (which I can test on my ipad2).

If you 4S owners who bought on day 1 have less than 10 days to exchange if that's the option for you.

I finally got a response from Pioneer, after about 2 weeks of waiting.

    Good Day,

At this time, we are working to evaluate the compatibility with our car,

home and DJ products. Unfortunately, we do not have any information to

share at this time, but we will post information on our website as soon as

    possible.

Fact is Pioneer makes products miles and miles better than JVC. JVC is a pretty much budget brand for car audio. Pioneer is the pinnacle of top of the line stereos. Its not Pioneers fault that Apple screwed up. Enjoy your subpar JVC that my AVH 8400 blows out of the water.

I just upgraded two of our iphones to IOS6. The stereo I just put into my car to operate the phone six weeks ago stopped functioning with the upgrade. I paid close to $500 for this Kenwood radio with new speakers and installation. Its the model KDC-BT852HD. It worked perfectly. It was safe to operate the phone while driving. I was very happy with the setup.

So after reading all available information on the internet it seems the issue revolves around any manufacture that uses something called parrot for bluetooth.

Whats worse is Apple at this point is the only one who could make this issue go away quickly and they are so far refusing to do so. All thats necessary is that they allow their customers to roll back to the prior version of the operating system in the short term. In this case 5.1.1.

I for one am very disappointed in apple. We are a big apple family with many computers and devices. When I call Apple they say they cant do anything. When I call Kenwood they say they cant do anything either. I feel like I threw my money in the toilet.

Wow. Just called apple support stating I was going to return the 13 business iPhone 5's because of this issue. Ten minute hold and I was put to a supervisor who gave me his direct line and said "expect 6.1 put in the next week to week in a half, you will be pleased"

Lets hope this guy wasn't just appeasing me temporarily.

That is a lot of money to spend on a low end stereo, personally, I install myself that way I have more to spend on the stereo itself.  My last truck I got a low end stereo configured it to have the 8 speakers powered by the factory amp, then wired a decent amp to the factory subwoofer box with an upgraded speaker.  My current truck, I just got it and put in a Pioneer 4400bh (valued $500, paid >$400) spent 3 days installing every little thing including reverse camera.  Then updated to iOS 6, Bluetooth did not function correctly, I paid the extra rather then using the stereo I pulled from my last truck for the meta tag feature.  Based on what I have been reading, it sounds like my old stereo might still have Bluetooth control, I will have to test that.

Just as an update from pioneer, at least what I am getting from them.  They submitted the issue to their engineering department.  A week later, I asked what I should be expecting, apple to update or pioneer.  I got a "more annoyed" reply saying the say thing.  I am going to send another reply to see if they are changing response yet.  I am also going to go to the apple store to see what they can do, or tell me.

I have been trying to follow along with the forum, but their is some much on here, is the issue still present on the iPhone 5?

Note that for what it's worth many of the Toyota factory head ends having no problem with iOS6 are sourced from JVC.

Hmmm… sounds like a supervisor needs to be written up, given I don't believe developers have been seeded with a 6.1 beta yet.

That is fine in my eyes.  I've called apple three times in total about this issue, and that is the first time I've been put to somebody that gave me some kind of information.  The other two people simply told me to wait for firmware updates from the manufacturers.     In the end, it doesn't really matter to me.  I've had every iPhone since the orignal, and I've actually purchased every one on the release date,  but this is the deal breaker for me.

I know apple has 14 days to issue a fix for this or all 13 of my phones are going back to AT&T.  I have not had one of my employees state that they have issues with their phone,  however I am having issues.  I pay the bills, so I decide what happens, and if I'm not happy, then apple is not going to receive a penny from me.

I've been researching alternative phones,  and I'm VERY impressed with the HTC's.  I've never 'looked outside the apple box' until recently, and I do not think it will be that awful to leave apple like I had previously thought.  In fact, some of the options and abilities of the non-apple smart phones are pretty impressive.

In the end, I would like to keep the iPhones, however it's not a huge ordeal if apple doesn't fix their issue.  So the ball is in their court, and we will see what the next two weeks bring.

So despite the fact that your employees like them and are likely more productive, because it won't work with your car stereo you'll return them all?

That's your power as a consumer, but wow.

Just wanted to add myself to the list of people with this problem. iPhone 4S, running iOS 6 and a Pioneer DEH-P9400BH. Can still stream music via bluetooth, but can't control it from the headunit or get meta data.

I don't understand why so many people spend all that

money on high end car audio, only to destroy the music

my playing back over sub optimally compressed Bluetooth

instead of direct streaming over USB.

Audio quality on my Alpine system is an order of

maginiude better when streaming via USB (which is actually

a true PCM stream for the Alpine gear) vs. the totally lack

of punch, clarity, and definition that you end up with

    when using Bluetooth.
