Q: time machine take ages to perform a back up

I have 9 months with a time capsule device beign used with a Mac Mini without troubles. 3 months ago I just bought a 11¨ Mac Book Air (OS X 10.7.5). For 2 month its Time- machine app performed back-up's in the Time Capsule in normal standards (as I used to experiece with the Mac Mini). However, since september 24th something went worng and time machine takes ages (it calculates 51 days) to perform a back up of the MacBook Air, of course I haven`t been patient enough to leave the MacBook Air performing the back-up for 51 days. The curious thing is that it keeps working normally with the Mac Mini despite I have updated to Lion (OSX 10.8.2)  for Leopard within this period.  I have looked for answer in forums and apparently is a recurrrent problem, and the official aswers from Apple Staff are really poor and simple. Is there any solution to my problem or the MacBook Air has to become a desktop device in order to be able to have back up from it?

Did you install the latest supplement to the 10.7.5??

Apple messed this one up bigtime.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1599

The basic issue is long spotlight and TM operation.. to the point of never finishing.

If you have already done that, then there is an issue with wireless. You don't clearly state but I am guessing the mini is running ethernet and the Air is wireless.. ??

Be very suspicious if the issue is just wireless..

I have just given my standard advice for fixing this (if you can call it that.. helps some does nothing for others).

You might like to try some of those ideas.

Apple do sell a USB to ethernet adapter for the air.. that might be worth getting so you do have a backup.

It is cheap.. worth having anyway.
