I've just purchased QuicktimePro for my iMac, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to install it. I've been doing what it says, but nothing seems to be working. I have the registration key number, but can't input it!! Someone help before I lose it!!
Which OS are you using? If Snow Leopard or Lion, then only the QT 7 Player can be upgrated for "Pro" use. (I.e., the QT 10 Player cannot be keyed for "Pro" use.)
Whether you are using Lion, Snow Leopard, or an older Leopard OS, ignore any instructions telling you to enter the "Key" information via the "System Preferemces" window. Use the QT 7 Player application's "Registration..." window instead. Basically, the instructions are the same as those for Snow Leopard and Lion as described HERE, but entering the information in the older OS compatible version of the QT player.iMac, Mac OS X (10.7.2), 3.4 GHz Quad Core i7, 4 GB 1333 MHz
I am using Lion, and realised I had to download Quicktime 7 in order to get the Pro. Did everything like you described, and it LOOKS like its there. But my god, they don't make it easy!
though I haven't upgraded to Lion, I have used this quirky fix when upgrading to other systems. It seems when one buy QT Pro, it doesn't transfer well and one may end up with Player only not Pro. try this:
