    The only thing that worked for me was disabling Cellular Data (under Settings->General->Cellular). Not the most amazing solution, but at least while I'm home the battery doesn't drain by just having the phone sit there. I hope there will be a fix soon...

    I doubt, i think this is what the phone can do and we need to start to accept it. 6hrs use plus 4hrs standby. 10 hrs and go back and charge.

    Sorry guys but i am not seeing the light at the end of this tunnel. I will return the phone

    Hey guys, I understand there could be different causes for these battery issues, but you should try Ace's steps to a 'T'.

    I had DFU reset and almost everything with no solution.

    But after following Ace's steps on page 48, below is the awesome battery performance proof in picture.

    I've done Ace's procedure and it made no difference in my iPhone 5.

    Handsfull, did you follow it exactly?

    Not questioning you, but just to make sure...  cause it helped me definitely.

    Oh, one more thing...

    I didn't turn off LTE, BT, or anything else except for Push.

    @Yuni

    Yeah, to a tee.  I ended up skipping the restore to backup portion and just setting up a a new phone and manually adding apps and email accounts, etc.  At this point Apple owes me a paycheck for doing their job.  I can't think of another item that is purchase and put up with so much BS like this.

    Why does this iphone 5 issue bother/concern me so?

    The most remarkable thing I've ever seen with a defective product was the iPhone 4 and its antenna.  Apple was actually allowed to get away with selling a product to millions of people, with a defective part that was arguably the piece that would make it functional as an actual 'telephone'....and they completely escaped correcting their error by offering a plastic/rubber bumper worth approx 2.00 in cost.  The REAL sad part is everyone accepted it.  I actually thought they may have learned a lesson.....

    We have a phone that was released with a newer style charging port that requires a different plug. They have no supply of cords OR THE ADAPTER that allows you to charge your phone.    They don't have cases on the market for the iPhone 5.  Maps app is absolutely embarrassing.  YouTube app is gone. Restoring to a backup isn't possible without having issues.  Battery life is much worse than advertised.

    They didn't learn.

    Rant off.

    @Handsfull - Couldn't agree more. Hence why I am saying bye to Apple.

    2 things here for apple going forward. Take a break from making a new phone every year... And work on bringing production here to the states. Trying to get china to produce a product of the specified quality apple is looking for is like trying to get a walrus to play piano. I'll pay extra for a quality product made in america. Second, they need to completely revamp their itunes software. It is a complete joke, and only reliable about 20% of the time. Also make it more transparent, and not have to worry about whether or not the next time you hit sync, if your pictures and contacts will still be there.

    @Xtreme087

    "bringing production here to the states" - don't make me laugh mate. that would seriously harm the 5000% markup. not to mention the increase in chinese population - they need them suicides over there..

    Didn't somebody come out with a figure that said it would cost somewhere between $6 to $10 per phone to cover the cost of producing it in america? Not sure how accurate it is. I'd definitely pay that and then some.

    Anyway, i am VERY happy with my iPhone 5. However, this hit or miss quality that people have been seeing WILL hurt apple in the long run. I went over my phone with a fine tooth comb to make sure it was up to par for a $350 phone. As for my battery problem, i have conditioned the battery, went through 3 full discharge/recharge cycles and it is just performing beautifully at the moment. 40% remaining with 6:30 of moderate to heavy usage.

    I'm sorry that it didn't work.  I totally understand your frustration because I was there.  Good luck.

    @Yuni

    Thanks Yuni!   From my early assessment, my battery seems to be better after the Apple store replacement/I'll know something more concrete tomorrow AM.

    FWIW: As unhappy as I am/sound.....I want Apple to succeed. I love Apple. I own everything from MBP's to several Nano's (and many inbetween-LOL). I own Apple stock.  I even have the Apple sticker on my vehicle.  Apple has always produced products that 'just work' and have evolved into something better than their replacement.  Mistakes happen, people fail.  Learn, adjust/correct, drive on......BUT.....When they happen again, it's now called a pattern.

    Apple needs to address this one with an elevated sense of urgency...it's like purchasing a new car that gets 10 miles with a full tank.

    Same Problem: iPhone5 running hot and loosing charge very quickly (~1 hour lost >25% charge lost while on standby, with no use).

    Solution: Reset phone to factory settings and set up as a new phone (do not restore from backup).

    I took the iPhone to a Genius who said charging issues are usually (though not always) due to software problems, he ran some diagnostics and also asked if the new phone had been restored from a backup (yes it was; from and iPhone4S to an iPhone5), he surmised that the 4S backup could have been corrupted. He recommended a reset to factory defaults, and to not restore anything from the corrupted backup and then manually add back the apps that I needed (I had Mail, Contacts and my Calendars on iCloud, etc., so those were saved!) The Genius reset the phone at the store and the heat problem was immediately resolved. Adding back the apps was a time consuming pain but it did gave me an opportunity to weed out 200+ apps that I'd used only once or twice.
