    @ebrown711,

    During those 7 hours, what did you use you iPhone for. Browsing? Texting? Gaming? Was LTE on?

    @ebrown

    There is no such thing as "conditioning" a lithium battery.  You should never, ever fully discharge a lithium cell, unless you want to damage it.

    Finally have concrete numbers to show everyone after I REPLACED my iphone 5 yesterday afternoon.  Countless hours spent restoring (via backup AND as a new phone).....sim card replacement.....toggling every item on my phone on and off in a logical manner trying to pinpoint the cause.....

    Here's my numbers:

    photo (1).PNG

    I'd say my phone is running the way it should.   How did I do it?  Simple.  Received new phone from Apple.  NEVER plugged it into computer.  Set up as new phone on the iphone itself, using icloud ONLY TO SYNC and NOT USING ANY FORM OF BACKUP.  REPEAT: DO NOT USE ANY BACKUP.  Yes, I lost ALL of my app data and settings, ringtones, etc.  Does it suck?  Absolutely.  It's the only way for me to have a working phone.

    For anyone who didn't see (or don't care to go looking for) my former screenies, here's where I was for WELL over a week.....photo.PNG

    I was listening to music, browsing the web, texting, facebook, twitter, and some games. I used lte in spurts but dont use it a lot because it burns a lot of data.

    Well if there is no such thing as conditiong the battery i dont know what you would call it then. Because before i let the battery drain fully and recharged for a week my phone was losing 20-30 percent battery life in an hour. After doing it my battery is lasting over a day. So do the math.

    Operating system bug was depleting your battery.  After it drained and you recharged, the bug stopped it's ridiculous behavior....BUT....your battery usage/standby times are still not on par with what you could be getting, it is clear your OS is not operating correctly (still).  Look at what I posted and do the math.

    You may be right. But truthfully if my phone gets the usage everyday that i gets now i will be fine with it. All i need my phone to do is last me from the time i get up in the morning until the time i get home from work. im going to charge my phone nightly so a phone lasting 24 hours is just a bonus. But those are helluva numbers.

    @edb

    They are indeed good....but I feel I've earned it (LOL) after all the nonsense I've had to endure.  I wouldn't settle for anything but what you paid for, bring back your phone and get a new one/set it up as new and keep your back up handy for when they actually fix this debacle.

    Good luck everyone.

    FYI, today's battery:

    1 hour 2 min usage

    9 hours 53 min standby

    83% remaining

    That said, use has been very litght (turning screen on for a few seconds to check something and off again) - no gaming, 1 short call, etc.

    Does anyone think this is probably a software issue rather than a hardware issue? dont really want to get a replacement just to have the same problems...

    I too used to believe that battery conditioning might be necessary but seeing there were two schools of thought here, did some searching and found this:

    That's not to say that your observation is not real, but battery conditioning can't be a major cause for improving battery life. We iPhone users also have to worry about the longevity as we can't just swap the thing out after a year.

    Having conditioned it myself three or four times, I am thoroughly at a loss now as to what to do to get a half life longer than the attention span of a goldfish. DFU restore didn't help either.

    I do.    The fact that SOOOO many people are having the same problem on iPads and iPhone 4 and 4s models, once upgraded to iOS6 makes that pretty clear to me........

    Andy, what did you since last?

    Just to update my status:

    Apple has just called me to see how my phone was doing.

    One thing i forgot to check was LTE. Sice i did network setting restore, i assumed it was on, but to my chagrin, it was off.

    I just turned it back on and i will update if that has prominent effect on the battery life

    So far with BT, LTE off,

    Usage: 2 bours

    Standby: 1 day 14 hours

    Battery: 72%
