iPhone 5 time and date issues

    I got a response from the Apple engineers... It's not good

     

    "Issues with time provided over the air from Verizon will ultimately be for the carrier to address."

    I Think they are passing the buck!  If it was a carrier problem my clock would not go back to some time in September.  It would be off by some small delta.  The internal clock is not being set correctly otherwise it would not go back to some increasing time a month back in time.

    Then I say we start returning these phones as defects to Apple until they decide it IS a problem. Oh yeah, and don't forget to call Verizon Wireless and demand an adjustment on your bill for loss of service.

    I did the following and the date and time on my phone have been stable for five straight days now.  If Verizon and Apple don't get this fixed by November 4th, not sure if I have to update the time manually for Daylight Savings Time.

     

    Settings > General > Date & Time > Set Automatically -> OFF

     

    Settings > General > Date & Time > Time Zone -> Enter your respective city

     

    Settings > General > Set Date & Time > Enter current date and time

     

    Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services > Setting Time Zone -> OFF

    I agree, both Apple and Verizon are passing the buck and pointing at each other. Meanwhile.....we have all spent a considerable amount of money purchasing "THE MOST ADVANCED iPHONE EVER, on AMERICA'S BEST NETWORK....(so they claim) and these devices can not even keep the correct time and date.......

    I have tried steps 1, 2 and 3 to no avail, will try step 4 and see if it makes a difference.  What I do not like is that when I travel I will need to play with my phone to have the corrrect time.

    I just got off the phone with VERIZON Tier 2 tech support . They have admitted that it is their problem!!!!! You need to call in and bypass regular tech support by telling them (demand if you have to) that you want to speak to Tier 2 tech support  and then my tier 2 tech support rep said that they was aware of the problem and that a ticket had to be submitted to support above them to fix it. It is on their system and it takes 12-48 hours OR LESS to fix it then we will NO longer have this problem. She even agreed to text me her email address.... So call Verizon NOW!!!

    I also had been having all of the same problems as everyone else and tried all of the same things listed here to NO avail I was getting VERY frustrated .

    I read somewhere on this thread that Verizon says it is a problem with some of their towers and is being corrected, though it may take a few weeks.  Sprint roams free to Verizon, and that could be the source of your problem.  Try turning off roaming and see if that makes a difference.

    Did Verizon give you a ticket number to refer to when they admitted it was their problem? I would like to refer to it when I call. Thanks

    I submited a trouble ticket with Tier 2 tech support over a week ago. When I called to check on it last Saturday..."sir.. there is no resolution yet. Your ticket has been combined with 16 others"

     

    I am sorry to say the response you were given "12 - 48 hours for a fix" is the same song and dance we all have been hearing for over a week. I do agree that more calls they get the better.

    I just exchanged my iphone 5 at the apple store for the third time.  Let's see if this new one works

    iPhone 5 16GB on Verizon.  Time and date have changed at random about 2 to 3 times each day since activation on Sept 28.  I have talked with Verizon support 4 times, and have tried all of the solutions they and others on this forum have offered but the issue persists. Verizon top tier tech was to call me back yesterday with ETA of fix, but no call yet. I talked with local Verizon store today about returning under warranty; they told me that Apple was working on the fix, that they did not have any replacement phones in stock, and that for warranty replacement I would have to return to the local Apple store anyway. In a subsequent call to the Bridgeport Apple store I was told that indeed they did warranty replacement, that they also did not have any replacement phones, and that they have never heard of this time/date issue and therefore doubted that Apple was working on a software fix. This is all very disappointing indeed. I guess patience is in order, so have fired up the old iPhone 4S to carry in parallel to use for alarms and reminders.

    After reading your post I called Verizon this morning and also talked to their tier 2 tech support and was told it is an Apple software problem not a Verizon problem.  He said Verizon was aware of the issue but Verizon's official response was that it wasn't their problem and Apple would have to provide a fix.  So apparently Verizon isn't giving consistent answers when you escalate to their second level technical support. The tech also told me replacing the phone will not fix the issue.  I can't believe neither Apple or Verizon will own up to the problem.

    iphone5 16Gb on Verizon.  I walked into the local Apple store in Mishawaka, IN. while my phone was acting up. After 3 trips they replaced the phone. Didn't even last a day before the problem occurred again. For what it's worth this phone is off by the exact same amount of time as the prior one.

     

    Last night I tried leaving it on airplane mode and the time was correct in the morning. Within hours of going back to normal use the time was off.
