Hello guys.

I know that there are plenty of discussion threads on the connection issue between a Mac and a Bluetooth Keyboard or a mouse, but the issue with my keyboard is just bamboozling.

I have a third party bluetooth keyboard.

It pairs perfectly with my iPhone 4, the New iPad, and my Samsung Netbook which I bought late last year.

Now, when I try to connect it to my Macbook Pro from 2007 with OSX 10.6.8, it just fails to connect, which is weird, since the Magic Mouse is working perfectly.

I tried to connect the two in two ways. (After forgetting the keyboard on all devices.)

1. Through System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Set Up Bluetooth Keyboard

The result: The LED on the keyboard starts blinking, and the computer recognizes it's name. ("Found Bluetooth 3.0 Keyboard", "Attempting to Pair with...") But rather than trying to acquire a passphrase, the Bluetooth keyboard screen just disappears and returns to the Keyboard Prefences. When I click on the Bluetooth icon on the taskbar at the top, the keyboard shows, but when I click it, I only see "Open Keyboard Preferences" without "Connect", like my Magic Mouse. When I go to Bluetooth Preferences, I see my Magic Mouse connected, paired and working fine. I also see the keyboard's name, but it is neither connected nor paired. The keyboard is still blinking until this stage.

2. Through Bluetooth Setup Assistant

The result: The LED on the keyboard starts to blink. After about 30 seconds, on the Macbook, it says "The pairing attempt was unsuccessful. This configuration of Mac OS X and Bluetooth software could be invalid or unsupported. After this, the keyboard on the Bluetooth Preference list disappears. I can't see the keyboard when I click on the Bluetooth icon on the taskbar either.

I've tried the connection in the same manner after resetting my SMC and NVRAM, deleting the plist files in both Libraries directories.

I've tried the connection the other way around after resetting my SMC and NVRAM, deleting the plist files in both Libraries directories.

Still not working.

I would just give up and forget about the whole thing; only it's just too frustrating.

MBP working fine with other Bluetooth devices. Keyboard working fine with other devices, including iPhone and iPad.

It is just these TWO that are not working together with each other. How in the world should I explain this?!@#
