Ok, spoke to the Senior Apple Consultant after he's spoken to the engineers, not too much good news.
In regards to the email and iOS notifications for shared calendars the engineers are aware of the problems and are working on icloud.com and iOS6 to resolve them. At the moment there is no real fix. For the email notifications I've set up a filter in my gmail to filter all email@example.com emails to a separate folder so they don't crowd my inbox.
For shared reminder lists they're also aware of the iniability to now share/unshare/turn on/off email notifications and it will be fixed in the next iOS6 update.
Sorry there's not too much good news, other than they're working on it.
The engineers are hoping to reset my Calendar preferences and have a bit of a play. Will let you know how that goes too.

Thanks very much for the update; you saved me a lot of time searching these forums and talking to Apple support.

I'm in this same boat. I liked the email notification for shared calendars previous to iOS 6, but now that it has the native calendar notification (which is even better) - I'm stuck getting both the notification and the email, with no way to turn the email off.
Glad to hear Apple is already working on this.

Thank you very much for keeping us posted 'drainsdigest'!
The shared calendar notification problem has been driving us mad too.
I find it difficult to believe that this is the only thread that I could find on the subject.

Likewise thanks to all including the original post - I couldn't find anything on this at all before and came back the Support pages having had another go at resolving this because it is now getting pretty irritating, to say the least! Hopefully the fix is not too far away

About email notifications... does anyone know how to receive these email notification on the @me.com email address and not on the apple ID primary email address?
I've tried to change my apple ID from my hotmail.com email to my me.com email, but it doesn't let me...
I don't want to use my hotmail anymore; I want to have just one email address... my me.com address.
Thank you in advance for your help!

If you are talking about alerts when a new appointment is added to the shared calendar or edited or deleted then u can turn this off.
Mail, contacts, calendars
Scroll right down to bottom and toggle 'shared calendar alerts' to 'off'

Thanks CRJ181, but the point of this thread is our shared recognition that this switch is broken in iOS6, at least on some devices. Changing that setting has no avail on any of my devices running iOS6.

Just wanted to update this thread for anyone else having my same issue of receiving an email notification as well as a calendar notification on a shared calendar, despite email alerting being turned off at icloud.com. I'm happy to report that my email notifications have stopped and I'm now just receiving the native Calendar notifications when items are added, removed, or edited.
I also noticed my @icloud.com email alias is now usable - coincidental that this fix came around the same time; perhaps this has something to do with it (for us old MobileMe customers anyway).

I agree with you and i would add that the switch doesn t work neither on all ios6 devices, neither on icloud.com. I also recieve those notifications on icloyd.com webapp and the option that disables notifications upon new shared calendar events is also effectless. That s why i think about a global icloud problem rather than an ios 6 issue.
Maybe flaw is on the server side not on the device side. And i hope it could be fixed even before the 6.1 update.

I sure hope Apple fizes this soon. Lots of married couples are having this issue. Sometimes only in one direction, sometimes in both.
The QA with Apple software has certainly gone downhill this year.

Totally mostly affecting couples!! My partner and I are aslo not getting the same. I think that I am getting the emails since I elected to receive emails when changes were made to the shared calendar pre-iOS6/icloud update. However, there is no way to change that now. My partner is not getting anythign.
