Oct 9, 2012 6:52 PM in response to Pez_fby momoz,I am in the same boat!!!! added 20.00 gift card so son could buy new apps on the ipad... and guess what.. new device requires security questions to be answered..
he created them a year ago.... and has no idea what he put or he thinks he knows but who knows if the spelling was correct.. They (apple security) are doing nothing but typing the same fields and shooting in the dark! They locked my account for 8 hours too.. so I have to play the 8 hour game and keep trying with them on the phone to at least get one correct..
this is freaking nuts!
There HAS to be something someone can do!!!!!!!!
Help!!!

Oct 10, 2012 5:33 AM in response to momozby Pez_f,I have had some success. I initially emailed apple support..or whatever it's called...and a very helpful and enthusiastic representive said she was going to stay 'by my side until the the issue had been resolved'. She said ring the security department. I rang them and as I've said previously, it was a terrible experience, but somehow although I didn't reply to this email, she emailed again and restated her dedication to my case! Not only that, but she had sent another email after that one and said it had all been resolved! But, she would still not rest until she knew I could use my giftcard. I replied telling her how useless the guy on the phone was and felt very let down, but thanked her for her personal approach and patience Well, I have to say it was all a very surreal experience and have no idea how they fixed it...the giftcard that is. I still don't know what my security questions are and still can't get into that part of my account. Needless to say, the guy on the phone didn't get a very good user feedback report...it felt good! lol

Oct 14, 2012 9:44 AM in response to lolwut123by Smitty1117,I called 800-my-apple and they were very helpful. They sent a verification code to my device. Read it back to them and then I could reset my security questions.

Oct 16, 2012 4:57 PM in response to lolwut123by summershomegrown,WOW - it's true - just got off the phone with apple and they were of NO HELP AT ALL!! I ACTUALLY KNOW THE ANSWERS TO MY QUESTIONS AND THEY STILL ARENT WORKING!! I';M SO FRUSTRATED!! One of the questions was "what is the city where my parents met". I know for a fact they met in HOLLYWOOD!! it is easy! ANyway, apparently the only solution is to keep trying the same security questions/answers which then locks you out for 8 hours if your wrong a few times or create a NEW apple ID but then you dont have access to your old info. ANyway, I called CORPORATE and have been on hold for over 10 minutes. UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Oct 18, 2012 1:05 PM in response to summershomegrownby smoth ,Same. RAGE inducing. The guy on the phone was REALLY chill but seriously, whoever decided this was the way to go, should be fired. Another experience like this and I will just leave apple entirely, there are other services out there I can use.
After about an hour trying to get to someone:(this is paraphrasing)
"I have forgotten my security questions."
"well tell me your answers so I can reset them"
(that is stupid, that negates the whole point of them to begin with)?"can I do it some other way?"
"try logging into the id.apple"get in, LOL it requires my security questions.
HEY APPLE:
I logged in with my password, why are you making it difficult for me to give you MONEY? I can give my money to someone else, I don't mind, I mean hey, I'll get the same stuff in the end!my next attempt is going to be talking to someone in the apple store. it is amazing, I have been a long term supporter and was about to go all in buying the shows I watch... you know instead of just watching them on a certain other digital delivery system. It would have been a nice chunk of change. Good game Apple, enrage your customers.

Oct 18, 2012 2:09 PM in response to smothby summershomegrown,YUP!!! Then I called corporate and they put me on hold for TWENTY MINUTES. I finally hung up. I'm gonna try again ASAP. Maybe if we all call corporate and tell them how ridiculous this is - MAYBE, just maybe they'll realize they made a HUGE mistake not allowing someone to be able to reset these ridiculous security questions.

Oct 19, 2012 12:15 AM in response to smothby Pez_f,Yeh, i mean, they are OUR accounts, we log in with OUR passwords as we always have done. Also I am almost 100% sure I didn't even choose the security questionsl... one of them would require me to remember was I was doing when I was 11 years old! The only possible answer, is the one I answered with and the same with the other question, but NO, I am not allowed to enter.
I am sure Apple will eventually realise people are ****** at them, it's not as if we really HAVE to spend all our hard earned cash on their products. If I'm that bothered I could just go out and buy a piece of crap. Would still get the same results, just a few more clicks, some cheap nasty plastic and slowness...

Oct 23, 2012 6:18 PM in response to Happy married manby Akiba-Seattle,I am stuck in this very same situation and apple cannot help (called the support, went to an apple store) the only solution they offer is to add a credit card, sorry but I do not one one and my debit card is apparently not accepted by Apple!
You have my phone on record, you have the Serial of the Mac I use for iTunes, you have the serial of my iPhone 5, you have 3 of my e-mail address, why should I be FORCED to add a Credit Card?
