I tried to connect my Canon 6300n printer to my local network but it didn't work.

Used Canon CAPT Printer Driver Ver.3.55.

    Are you sure that 192.168.0.215 is the actual IP address of the LBP?

    I ask this because the Guide included with the driver shows the same IP address as an example of adding the LBP when it is networked. So if you set the LBP with the same IP address as the Guide, and your network is using a different IP address subnet, then this would explain your issue. Can you confirm what IP address and subnet mask your Mac is using.

    Don't be too concerned about what Netspot shows. The utility has not been updated for ages.

    With the new IP address set in the LBP6300n and after you add the printer, can you open System Information, select Printers in the left column and then select the LBP in the right pane. Can you copy what is shown for URI and paste back here.

    Also, can you open Finder and navigate to HD > Library > Caches > Canon  > CUPSCAPT > CCPD. Here you will see a file called ccpd.conf. Can you open this file and copy the content and paste back here what is set in this file.

    Can't find the ccpd.conf file in HD > Library > Caches

    I don't have a Canon map in Caches.

    If you don't have a Canon folder in HD > Library > Caches then that is the reason why you cannot print to the LBP6300. So can you first check again for this folder. If it is definitely not present then run the CAPT v3.55 installer again.

    Hello, I finally found the .CCPD file

    #
    # Canon Printer Daemon for CUPS Configuration Data
    #

    <Path>
    # CUPS configuration files Path
    #  Default /
    CUPS_ConfigPath   /

    # LOG Directory Path
    #LogDirectoryPath /var/log/CCPD/

    </Path>

    # Printer entries
    #  Mapping each "Printer-Name" to "Printer Device Port".
    # The "Printer-Name" has to be identical to the CUPS printer queue name.
    #
    #  For example, if you prepare a printer named "XXXX" as a CUPS printer
    #  queue name, and the printer is connected to the USB port "/dev/usb/lp0",
    # you can use the following three lines example just by removing the
    #  comment symbol "#" of each line.
    #<Printer XXXX>
    #DevicePath /dev/usb/lp0
    #</Printer>

    <Printer _192_168_1_83>
    DevicePath net:192.168.1.83
    </Printer>

    <Ports>
    # socket port
    UI_Port  59787
    # backend data port

    I solved it. Wrong driver. Tried all the time with version LBP6300n Canon CAPT UK. When it would have been the Canon LBP6300 CAPT UK

    Great to read that you got it working. But the solution makes no sense. For starters, you have the N model. The other model is USB only. Also, the differences between the N and non-N PPD are just finishing options. So I don't see how this would have mattered. And to be sure, I created a new queue to my LBP6300dn but used the LBP6300 PPD and it worked fine.

    Anyway, the important thing is that it is now working.
