Hi All

Moutain Lion is a great and some challenging update

I have serious problems with Apples Mail App and it drafts keep popping up. See this link.

So I use a different email client. Sparrow Mail App or Postbox.

Now, when I want to Share my work through Pages, Numbers or Keynote and my default mail client isn't Mail App I just get a fail sound and nothing happens.

If Mail App is selected as default mail client share works.

This issue has risen since Mountain Lion update has been installed.

Does anyone know how to get around this issue? How one can make iWork apps accept other mail clients to send of work.

Right now is old style save on Desktop and drag into mail client for me. - It's not death, just very annoying.

If anyone has some supreme solution, please let me know.

It does seem counterintuitive, but you need to open Mail to change the default application for your e-mail. Once you hav launched Mail go to Preferences & click the General button. The top item is "default email reader." Change that to the app you want. You may need to click another button & OK the changes or restart Mail.

If you haven't set another application to be your default e-mail application how are the iWork apps supposed to know? You have to make the change from within Apple Mail to Outlook or Sparrow or whatever app you want as default.

I have this same issue as well Jakob.

Were you ever able to get the share button to work with an email application other than Mountain Lion mail?

Jakob, have you done any maintenance lately on your computer? It could be cache files or other that isn't ok. Onyx is a free and very good maintenance application.

Repairing permissions seems to help in some cases after installing Mountain Lion

Restarting in Safe mode and then again in normal mode can help.

Deleting the iWork applications plist files could be tried.

    Hi Jakob,

I use Mountain Lion and all software is updated. Recently I started to use Sparrow as my default email client. My iWork documents cannot be shared directly from Pages or Numbers via share function. Even though I changed default client to Sparrow it does not work in iWork (screen attached). It does work in Safar though.

Have you already found a solution?

If you look at your screenshot, you will see that there is no menu option to "Send by Default Email Client" The only menu option is to Send via Mail.  I don't imagine Apple wanted to provide support for problems with every possible email program, so they only provided a means to share with the one where they control the code.

In your screen shot (taken in a Numbers window in this case) you would select Numbers, not the greyed-out line above.

Thanks Jerry but no - it doesn't work. I wasn't even trying to press the greyed-out line

Possibly, but since Safari doesn't create documents and on Safari 5.1.7 on Mac OSX 10.6.8, which I am using, Safari doesn't even have a Share menu, I have no idea what "works with Safari though."
