My Contacts lost all data suddenly today. I upgraded to 10.8.2 this afternoon. Could that have caused it?  Can I do to retrieve my data?

Do a restore from your backup. If Time Machine do a restore, if clone go to ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook and replace the folder.

If not, in your Finder > Go menu > Go to folder copy & paste

    ~/Library/Application Support/AddressBook

locate the AddressBook.data. file and double-click to open.

That's why I said to put the path in the Go menu > Go to folder.

    The ~/Library is hidden.

So either put the path in the Go menu, or hold the option key wile choosing the Go menu to reveal the hidden ~/Library.

Using iCloud?  Do you see data at iCloud.com?

Try opening the "AddressBookabbccc" ones and see if you get your contacts, also you might try Contacts menu > Import on the data file you copied. there may also be an ABbackup in there.

At any rate Metadata should have all your contact cards?
