Learn about iTunes: Unable to sync photos

Q: Unable to sync photos any longer to my Apple TV from my iMac iTunes.

I find that my Apple TV (first generation) is no longer syncing photos from my iPhoto collection.   It did so for pictures I synced after a 2010 vacation trip, but has not synced those I tried to sync last year or those I have just tried to sync this year.    Any ideas?    Here are some particulars about my system:

1.  I use an iMac purchased last year, still running the Snow Leopard OS (because of Quicken for Mac issues).

2.  I just installed the latest iTunes 7 upgrade or update.

3.  The "Apple TV" does show up in the left hand "Devices" column in iTunes.

4.  Apple TV downloaded a rental movie from Apple this past weekend, so it appears to be functioning within my home network (which is based on Apple's Airport Express).

5.   I confirmed that my iTunes preferences are still set for automatic sync.    I only sync a select set of iPhoto folders.    There is plenty of vacant space on the Apple TV hard disk.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

thanks.

Mike

P.S.  apologies if this message was directed to the wrong (e.g., iPad) community.   I did not find a choice for an Apple TV community.

My problem is similar. My first generation AppleTV shows up in the left menu but syncing never stops and no music or videos appear to be copied onto the hard drive. Restored the AppleTV to factory settings and then updates it hoping that would take care of syncing issue but it didn't. Available space on the hard drive shows nothing but the system files. Is there a way to check the hard drive to see if its malfunctioning? Any way to diagnose any other hardware failure?
