When do you see the "out of memory" message? When you are playing the project, or when you are trying to open the project in GarageBand?
How full is your system drive, and how much RAM do you have? Have you tried to quit all other applications before launching GarageBand, and to reboot before starting to work with GB? What is your MacOS version?
If you get the error message, when playing the song: Have you tried, if you can play it, if you silence all tracks but one?
It appears when I am trying to open this one particular project in Garageband. I've tried everything including shutting down all other processes, but nothing works.
It's odd because it is the only file to have the message appears. The file size is much smaller than other files as well. While the all other files open fine, this particular one open to the 'out of memory' message instead. I am out of ideas.
If it is an older project, GarageBand may need to convert the project to be compatible with the current version, and will need additional disk space. So again my question - how much free disk space do you have and how much RAM?
The project file may be corrupted. Have you tried to restore it from a backup?
And if you open the project package (ctrl-click the project and select "Show Package contents") and open the folder "Media" inside the package and open the audio files in Quicktime Player, can Quicktime play them, or do you get a similar error?
Mac OS X 10.6.8
Memory: RAM 4 GB, 1067 MHz DDR3
Free Disc Space: 130 GB of 500 GB
I was able to keep nearly 2.5 GB inactive before attempting to open the file.
The only backup I have is of an incomplete version that's pretty much obsolete now.
I have checked the media in 'show package contents' and found that they play fine. I was only able to try a few. I will try all files when I'm off work. I will delete some of the files to see if I can, at least, recover some of what I've done.
Thanks for helping with this.
