I "upgraded" from a 2010 13 inch macbook pro to a retina macbook pro. The case makes crackling noises when moving/lifting like it is lose and I have several dead pixels in the screen. I am very disappointed with the overall build quality especially for the price point. Apart from the nice screen, I can't say I would recommend anyone bying it.

You may still qualify for a return if it's within two weeks of purchase. Feedback to Apple is here:

Out of my 2 week period. Been working in the Arctic for the last 2 months and shipping it back was not an option. I am on my way home but currently stuck in a snow storm in Northern Canada. Will have to see if they can repair it under warrenty. Either way, for 3K, this should not happen. I have recommended several people to get a Mac in the last 10 years, and most did. Apple used to be of extreme high quality. ****; my 2005 12 inch powerbook still runs like a charm and had the best screen I have seen so far. Now, 3 powerbooks later, I find myself in a "windows aggrevating" state of mind when I am working my Mac. Who'd ever thought... And to think the last one almost cost as much as the previous 3 combined. Bah !!

Pretty common just the dead pixel issue. That gets you a warranty replacement of the screen. Set it up so they have the parts in hand before giving them your MBP so you don't have to do without it. WHile they are at it make sure they fix anything that is loose inside. Like anything this complex, and selling so many thousands of units, they have their share of problems. You are right to make them get it right!

Went to the Apple store where I bought it 3 months ago. They replaced it with a new unit without asking any questions. They stated that it was important for them to know that I was a happy customer. They appologized for the inconvenience and out I was 20 min later with my new MBP retina. Awesome !

    Righteous!

New product line can have some bugs. Good to see Apple resolving them in your favor.
