Apogee is great, as I know people who own it and they are happy with it, but there is no ONE best, there are many options depending on your needs and the money you want to spend

The answer depends on your needs.  If you have a lot of outboard gear for mixing than I would say no to the Apogee Duett.  If you are in the box then yes.  You will need more sends if outboard gear is required.  I think that the field is getting more level at this point and you need to consider function and cost, as you mention a budget.  You really can't go wrong if you make an educated decision.  Read reviews and check specs but most of all, know what you want to do with the music.  You are you, and only you will have this studio space, whatever it is.  Do your best and then do your best with what you get.  Good luck!
