Q: My iPhone is unlocked, hence, will not find Sim Card. Always says "No Sim" "SOS only" "No service" Help?!??!

I recently bought an iPhone 4s 32gb (Unlocked) from someone on Gumtree. 15 months warranty, no scratches or dents. Basically new! I am with iinet and have an Optus sim card (iinet mobile plan are with Optus). I insterted my new microsim into the slot numerous times and the message always pops up. "no sim installed. No service. No sim. SOS only" It is so annoying! I have tried everything, called Apple, when through the procedure, still to no avail. Is this the problem, the lady from iinet said the sim needs to be activated and may take up to 72hours. It has been 48 hours. But I have a feeling that it wont be activated tomorrow.

iPhone 4S, iOS 6

Wait until the 72 hours has passed and try again.

How was the iPhone unlocked? Has the iPhone been

reported as lost or stolen by the previous owner and is

    now blocked from the network?

What does it say when you look at Settings=>General=>Carrier?

It has been 72 hours. It still displays the same message. The phone was unlocked by the previous carrier, who I am unsure of. The phone is not stolen or lost. When I go to Carrier, it says "Automatic" (Automatically finds carrier" Thats all! But I discovered something, when I went to Settings>General>About it says my carrier is Optus (it is) but it doesn't show it! Is that a sign that it reconises the sim card but it is not truly activated?

Sounds like a problem with either the SIM or the way

Optus has your account provisioned. I would recommend

a visit to an Optus store/kiosk so they can test/replace

the SIM and verify the settings on your account while you

    are there.
