Q: I have a me.com account since ios5, can i have the same alias on icloud.com now?

I have a me.com mail account which I created at the launch of ios5. I have now upgraded to ios6 and activated icloud. It seems I can't get the same alias under icloud.com. When creating a different apple id it tells me the name is already in use. Can somebody else have registered this alias under icloud.com while inused it already under me.com? Moreover, how can I create more aliases. I find screenshots of settings menus when browsing to icloud.com but i can't find this option.

I suspect that what you are doing is, when "activating" icloud, you are actually trying to create a new ID using the existing on.  That's why you get the error you're getting.

Go to Settings>icloud and log into icloud using your existing ID and password.

Thanks for your response. Well, no, I log in using my existing account. It then shows the linked me.com mail and when i open these advanced settings, the mail address shows there, greyed out, so there's nothing incan change.

@icloud.com addresses are being rolled out over an unspecified period: you will get one without having to do anything, and it will be additional to your @me.com address. You will get a notification email when your account is updated (in theory). Please see this page:

It's possible the emails won't be sent out until everyone has been upgraded - my @icloud.com version works but I haven't had the email. You can check whether you've been upgraded by sending yourself a message to the @icloud.com version.
