Q: I have a 3rd gen iPod touch

and it wont update anymore then 4.2.1, what do i do, itunes is not letting me do anything?

i bought a second hand ipod touch from CEX as i did with my last one which worked perfectly but now i have got this one and it wont let me install apps becaus the softwear is only 4.2.1 and i cant get itunes to update it...... what do i do ?

If it's an 8GB configuration, it's a second generation model, not a third generation one, and can't be updated past 4.2.1. Apple sold some of these at the same time as the third generation models.

urgh this is so confusing, i had one before and it was on 4.3 and i could install apps, its the same version...
