Am having the same problem with my iphone 5, went to the genuise shop today and told them, but it was working perfectly with there wifi.
They told me they would change the firmware on the phone which is waht they did.
It reset all my settings and it has made it better i think, but will still not connect to my home wifi.
I have checked the routers firmware which is up to date, my sisters iphone 4s is running on it fine, but it will keep loosing connection on mine.
Do you you think this is still a problem whith my phone or would it be my router settings?
btw i dont have any WEP on the reuter.
I feel like going into the shop over the weekend and demanding another one.
The only thing with that is, it seems to work perfectly in there shop????
I have done the same as you - three times. I will be going back this weekend for a 4th iPhone 5. I will keep making them replace it until it works OUTSIDE of their store, because the same as you, it works perfectly inside the store. I told the last guy to come with me to the Starbucks across the street to see that it will NOT work once we leave the store but he was unwilling and acted as though I was an idiot for suggesting it. I said "ok then, I'll most likely see you in a couple of days!"
Additionally, I still haven't heard back from the engineers. I think that was just a way to get me off the phone because the 24-hour window for my call back expired 3 days ago.
This is so completely unacceptable of Apple.
I'm having major wifi problems on my iPhone 5 (and my wife's as well). It can barely connect to the wifi network at home or work, and when it does, it drops every few minutes. The connection quality is pretty much useless. Even sending a text message using iMessage takes half a minute.
I also have an iPod 3rd Gen running iOS 4 and it has zero problems. Same with my iPad 1st gen that's running iOS 5. No problems at all. This is getting really frustrating. If wifi was some new technology I could understand these problems, but this is ridiculous for an established technology.
I couldn't agree more. I don't know what makes me the most upset... the phone not working like it should, or Apple not publicly stating there is a problem and they are actively investigating to FIX IT!!!

Just got the 5 in yesterday. At home with ATT UVerse, wifi works fine. Today at work, it connects but only the mail client will work....any internet/apps it just hangs. Is it something to do with the type of wifi router (b,n,etc.) ?? This better be a software fix!!
Start reading from the beginning of this thread. I hate to say it, but your problems are only going to get worse. You might as well start the process of getting a replacement. Or, you can try all of the suggested fixes for the problem that are offered on these forums. They work for a small percentage of people, so it's worth trying.
Same problem here.
My iPhone 5 connects to my WiFi network and holds the connection but does from time to time not get any data. Surfing the internet is impossible then.
My girlfriend's iPhone 5 has the same problem and moreover even loses the WiFi connection sometimes (while she's staying at the same place in the room).
The problem appears with different wifi networks.
No problems with my old iPhone 3GS with iOS 5 in the same networks.
Just got my second replacement phone from Apple. I won't be able to activate it until this evening. Since this replacement phone is, I imagine, from the same batch as the previous replacement phone, I'm not sure how much faith I have in it working, but I should avoid prejudging. If it does not work I will most likely return the device and request my money back. I tried to watch a YouTube video from my current phone with the lousy WiFi and, although the 2 minute clip loaded, I couldn't get more than 10 seconds into it before it stalled.
Oh, how I pray that it does work, though. I am so tired of this!
I had been having trouble with my network since i got mine on the 21st, had it swapped, still couldnt stream photos or back up to cloud, wifi was spotty, gave my replacement to my wife, got a 64gb one, same issues, went to the store they set me up with a phone call, spent 1 1/2 hrs with senior tech on the phone, had me swap out my phone again, still same problem, went today and switched from arris all in 1 router to just a modem, plugged modem into links wireless router, all wifi issues are gone, im running 25mbs and at the farthest point in my house from the router it's hitting 17mbs!!
I have found that if I turn my bluetooth off a block from the house, I have no problems when I get home on wifi. This might be why I have never had a problem with my work wifi. I'll keep doing this to see if its consistant and repeatable.
Sad to say, but replacing the phone will not fix your issues. I got a replacement phone and it did not fix my wifi issues which was connecting to wifi but not working. Speedtest.net would just keep searching. I bought a new router and then it worked. After that I decided that the new router was too expensive. I decided to look around on the web and it said something about updating the firmware of my router to 3.12. I have a D-Link DIR 615 revision C1. I went into my router and clicked on check for update and it said it was already up to date. I knew that there was a newer version so i went to the website and found it myself. After i updated the firmware I have had no problems on my home wifi. What kind of router are you using and, is there any way you can update your firmware?
My new replacement iphone 5 still dont work right. But if you set up your phone as new device , how are you going to download your paid apps, don't you have to pay them again ? How do I get my old stuffs ? Reply. Thanks
