Hi there. Just reposting with my results.

To recap, I went to the Genius Bar. The Apple store rep told me that I needed to reset the phone completely and not restore from a backup.  Note:  I had already tried this previously and restored from my backup, and still had massive battery drain.

Did as instructed. Luckily I had most of my content stored in the cloud, so just had to let the phone overnight re-download all of my apps over Wi-Fi. And then re-sync any music or content.  Also had to reset any settings email etc.

While this process was annoying, I am happy to report that my battery life is back. Phone was fully charged @ 100 percent before going to bed and by the morning still around the same. Few hours of light use only draining a small amount.

    Hello everyone -

I too had excellent battery results with IOS 5.1.1 and upgraded OTA to IOS 6 with some drainage issues. I have a 4S and the first couple of hours it seems it was cycling through some sort of data retrieval and drained extremely quickly.

I've followed this forum since the beginning and tried adjusting the settings in an attempt to avoid resetting the phone, which helped a little, but the battery drain was still annoying and much more aggressive than it was before the "upgrade".

So I finally broke down and did a full backup and restore from iTunes like others suggested and as recommended by the Apple geniuses and my battery has been behaving much noticeably better all week.

Yesterday it went 18.5 hours with 7.5 hours of use and was still at 23% before bed time. It's a pain, but much worth it in my opinion to backup and restore as new. Just my two cents for those having problems.

    Good luck !

    So,

I send my preverious iPhone bakc and let me deliver a new one., no batterij problems for me.
It drains a bit faster though than IOS5. But guess they will try to fix this in an upcoming patch.

Also receiving tonight a Mophy Juice Pack Air. This cover will reload my iPhone to 100% whenever i switch it on.In this way I can do twice as long with my iPhone before recharging it the classic way.

I also think that once you restore your iPhone with Itunes, the draining gets lot's worse.
Think there is an error in the iTunes software.

@ChasMac1, did you turn 3G off or are you getting this amazing battery life with your 3G on? Could you please elaborate more on your settings? My iPhone 4S is still having some serious battery issues in spite of all the actions suggested in this forum. Thank you

I have the iPhone 4 and also had severe battery draining problems since upgrading to iOS 6.  I did an OTA update.  Since the upgrade my iPhone 4 would discharge about 10-15 % per hour just in sleep mode.  Any usage would add to the depletion.  I did a hard reset several times without any success.  I finally turned off location services and iCloud photo stream and watched it for awhile.  Battery depletion stopped.  I left the location services off for an hour.  I finally did another hard reset and turned the location services back on.  Now I am back to normal battery usage levels.  My phone has been off the charger for about 6 hours now.  I've had a phone call or so and I have done some minimal internet activity.  Looked at stock ticker a few times.  My battery level is now at 90%.  That is about what it used to be for this level of activity prior to iOS 6.  Not sure what changed.

My diagnostics and usage log is now full of  "webbookmarksd" crashes.

I just turned back on the iCloud Photo Stream to see if the battery depletion issue returns.  I will report back.

Yes, I still have 3G (it says 4G) turned on. I also have Bluetooth and Wifi turned on too. I also have most of the iCloud settings turned off except Mail, Photos, Documents, and Find My Phone which are turned on. I still have Push turned on for email too, just for my Exchange account - the other mail accounts are set to Fetch or Manual. And I turned the auto brightness off for whatever that is worth.

I just tried to use whatever I have use for and anything that I do not use much is turned off. So I can't say it is associated with any certain setting or app. I think we should be able to use the phone as intended without having to cut back on services just to save the battery. It seems to be working properly (knock on wood) since I reset as a new phone and have been adding things in as I need them.

I will update if I find it begins to revert ... sorry you are still having problems.

Yep, very disappointed in Apple for not having this issue fixed.  It is a real inconvenience.  I have tried everything possible except for a restore to my phone.  My battery drains so quickly, it is making it almost impossible to like this phone any longer.  I used to love my iPhone 4s and now I hate it.  The battery life is ridiculous.  I went to having a full battery charge that lastest a full day to only a couple of hours.  I charge my phone so many times throughout the day and it is definitely an inconvenience.  I need my phone during the day for work.  Apple needs to have a fix ASAP.  I keep looking at other people's suggesions, but it is truly a software issue and Apple needs to step up to the plate and fix it.

Sorry folks - just reverted back to crappy performance. The great performance lasted about 48 hours. What a pain in the *** ! I had to reset and reload all my apps settings music and photos with no fix !  Now I'm fed up. At least I gave it a shot. Now I can say I tried and wait for 3 months till Apple comes up with a fix. What a huge disappointment. If I knew this before I would have never upgraded to IOS 6 !!!

I've been kickin back waitin for anyone who's gone to extreme measures to say after 3 or 4 days they still had good battery usage before I spent more time on this. That's been my experience-change some settings, seems okay, then sh@@ again. Consensus seems to be ok for a few days, then crap again so Apple FU. I can think of way more fun ways of takin it up the A@@ than from a cellphone. You won't acknowledge a problem and maybe a lot of users are too young to remember the royal screw Microsoft gave its users, but I'm not. Life's too short to waste.  Contract is up in a couple of months, I needed a new phone. You aren't it.

And I'll be resigning from the post. Good luck to all.

Went to AT&T store today to upgrade my wife's old 3GS to brand new 4S.

Turned it on, and noticed that it drains about 1% per minute while on and is always warm. This is *brand new*.

Running iOS 6.0. Our 3GS running older iOS version (5?) never had this issue. Always ran cool and long. 4S runs short and hot.

FYI, my wife has been a die hard Apple fan until today.

ChasMac1, sorry to hear that! you were giving us hope.

Apple, the problem must be addressed immediately! Just allow a downgrade to ios 5.1.1 or roll out a 6.0.1 as a matter of urgency! You cannot let down users like that.

Well here I am several weeks later after making a series of posts, after calls from several Apple folks, even one from Apple HQ, the battery issue persists. I am at home surfing on my home today and my phone battery is sailing downhill - it's at 82% from just a little bit of surfing. I am even using a Morpie battery case so I can use my phone on a trip and get through the day. The number of posts on this has gone exponential. I was at a community meeting on Tuesday and four of us had iphones. My phone died early in the meeting. Before the early evening meeting was over three out of four iphones were dead in the water.

This issue is not solved and my strong suspcion is that it has several causes. However, the one common denominator is IOS6.

I think this issue clearly indicates the need for a battery management App that allows us to see what is using power and to manage it, just like you see on an Android.

    THE SOLUTION >>>>>>>

Finally and at last i solved my battery drain after i get mad ...

forget every thing about the location service and bluetooth and plaplapla ...

there is app name phone clean http://www.imobie.com/phoneclean/

that will delete every unwanted files on ur device and sure some files damaged that cases the battery drain ..

i wander why apple do not make app like that for itunes ..

make sure to delete the " FACEBOOK " files and donot keep the offline files .. after make force restart..
