I have noticed a WiFi sync quirk associated with IOS-6.  The computer's iTunes will recognize my iPod only if it is NOT connected to a charger.  My iPad is original and is still on IOS-5.  It functions properly.

Disconnect the iPhone from your charger and try again.  Exit iTunes and re-open it.

If I turn off wifi on my computer, wait 30 seconds, then turn wifi on again it recognizes my iPhone and the sync starts.  Try it.

I'm having the same problem since ugrading to iOS6 on both my iPhone and iPad. Thought that upgrade to OS 10.7.5 would resolve the problem, but NOOOO. The only way I can sync my devices is to phsically connect them to my mac. Once I dismount, they no longer show in iTunes until I reconnect with USB. Any word on a fix for this wifi problem?

Disconnect the iPhone/iPad from your charger and try again.  Exit iTunes and re-open it.

Thanks!! Simple fix... should have thought of it myself. Do you know if this sequence needs to be followed each time I USB connect and then dismount my devices from my mac? Great to have both devices wifi connected again.

    cheers...

As near as I can figure, the problem occurs each time that you connect to a charger.

There is another workaround if you use an Apple Airport router.  Open iTines and also Airport Utility.  Select (click on) the router and then go the the Base Station menu and select "Restart."  It takes several minutes but, in my case, it's better than going downstairs to unplug my iPod from the charger.

I'm hoping that this will be fixed with the next upgrade to IOS-6.

Ill give it a go... Did the whole base station/restart sequence and then connected my iPad to my mac. Then I dismounted, but kept it USB connection. A message asked if I wanted to apply changes, which I did. Next message indicated that my changes couldn't be applied as the iPad couldn't be found! For now I'll continue to quit/reopen iTunes and look forward to a fix in the next upgrade...

HUGE THANKS again for you help...

With iOS 5 I only had to attach my devces once to iTunes via cable to enable wifi sync. Once that was done they ( ipnone, ipad, ipod touch ) all showed up after launching iTunes when wifi was active on each devce. None of them had to be connected to power. Now it's hit and miss as to whether they show up. Sometimes they all do, sometimes only one of them. Sometimes none of them. When the one I want doesn't show up I find it helps to close iTunes, cut the device on, then launch iTunes again. It usually shows up then. Being connected to a charger, or not, doesn't affect anything. Of course that negates some of the convenience of not needing to have the device right there when you're at your computer.

It appears that many of us are experiencing a myriad of problems with iOS6 and wifi connection to iTunes. As long as I don't USB connect and then eject either of my devices to my MAC they appear in iTunes. Even when I charge from another location, I don't experience any problems. However, if I USB connect to my MAC and then dismount, the device doesn't remount in iTunes unless I quit the program and reopen. Prior to iOS6 both my iPad and iPhone would wifi remount after I ejected either from a USB connection to my MAC without having to close and reopen iTunes. We definitely need a fix on this one!

Every time I want to sync using wi-fi I have to turn of my computer wi-fi then restart it after a minute. I never had this problem before "upgrading" to ios6. This has been going on for at least a month now and no fix from apple. I'm really starting to question what is going on at this company.

This happens to me occasionally since upgrading to iOS 6 and iTunes 11, though only with the phone, my iPad seems to never get lost. Easiest fix is just toggling the WiFi off and then on again on the phone. iTunes picks it up every time.

Absolutely nothing is working for me. I have an iphone 4, iphone 3GS, and an ipad 3. All are iOS6 and iTunes 11.

The only device that syncs over wifi is my ipad 3.

What is the difference? Well, my ipad 3 is Verizon. Both of my iphones are ATT.

Is that a factor in this? I don't know. I give up.
