These are /will be great resources IF... I have n RX700 Epson Printer which I like but it was made well before WiFi and I've connected it to my iMac via USB cable for years... I have not been able to print from my iPad, Iphones, or iPods even though I have an Apple router. I am told if I connect the RX700 via USB to the USB Router port this would be solved. Correct or not?

Is this called AirPrint or just WiFi printing and what system changes might I need to make?

    Thanks...

    AirPrint ≠ Wi-Fi.

While Apple routers are guaranteed to be compatible with AirPrint, most newer routers from other manufacturers work as well.

AIrPrint enabled printers are is a subset of wireless printers in general. iOS devices can only print directly to AirPrint printers. There are plenty of workarounds available for your Epson RX700 though.

To print directly from an iPad / iPhone you will need an AirPrint compatible printer or another device to act as a print server. That can be a Mac computer running Printopia ($19.95 with free trial) or handyPrint (donation - supported). The Mac must be "on" but may be asleep for them to work. Equivalent PC options exist but you're on your own finding them.

You can also buy this standalone print server:

    http://www.lantronix.com/it-management/xprintserver/xprintserver.html

Otherwise you will need to buy an AirPrint printer or multifunction device.

These options enable you to use any printer available to your Mac, even older ones that may predate AirPrint by decades. I use Printopia to print from iOS devices to laser printers that were built in the early 1990s. Not only do they predate OS X by about ten years, they predate wireless networking altogether.

Problem with connecting TP-Link Wireless Print Server  TL-WPS510U

    New configuration

I bought yesterday a new wireless router,  TL- MR3040 to enable me to use a dongle as the dialup service is very slow.

This I successfully configured in a few minutes, this connects to 2 iMacs, mac pro, 2 Iphone’s and 2 ipad’s.

I still have a problem with the print server and sent you screen shots to enable you to see what was the last configuration I was able to achieve which sill did not resole my problem.

I was able to go as far as entering the password which failed as admin, so I am still at a loss on how to proceed.

Please advise if I am to receive further advices as mac users in Colombo Sri Lanka are as rare as hens teeth so no support is available mac tech geeks are non available.
