I have experienced a horizontal line of screen glitch at least twice now, 1/3 of the way up the screen. I just read that they think it's a software issue. Apple, please tell us what's up.

I am having the same issue and spoke with Apple Customer Service. Since getting the phone I noticed a horizontal screen glitch entering passwords within the app store, I persumed it was a bug to do with iOS 6, but today I was listening to music checking my email when the screen went haywire vertically and then went black, now the screen will not turn on, but the phone is on. The Apple rep has advised me that this is an known issue. Apple rep said they will replace my device with a new one if I go to the store. I rely on this phone for business and now am out a phone and my time to replace this device (which could have another issue if this is a manufacturing issue). We should be compensated!

I am going to join the rest of you and say that I have had the horizontal line issues as many have shown on various issues and as are being reported on other Mac forums.

Software, hardware ... not sure, but Apple should address this ASAP!

Same exact ones as documented in this video - seems to be rampant so I am wondering if a replacement is the fix or if it is indeed software???

Glad I looked into this, I called my wireless carrier and the genius says "just like old televisions, your iPhone can get a break in the keyboard if you use it too fast." Really? I notice it other times than just placing my apple info in though....

I too have had this issue, it seems that it doesn't matter what batch you get it still happens.

I got my pre-order after waiting a whole month and the first night I had it I noticed the screen doing this and it happened twice the first night. I decided that I would take it to the apple store but decided to wait to go but then the next morning it happened again and it was enough to make me go to the store. When I got there they made me make an appointment and so I did and came back an hour later and the guy switched it out for me no problem. The very next day I noticed my phone doing the same thing..

I was ****** so I ended up making an appointment again and getting it switched out yet again. I've had three iPhone 5s in the last four days and this is my second day with this new one, I'll see if this one starts doing it too, if it does I may just get it switched out as well.

It's definitely got to be a software bug.  You could probably exchange for a new iPhone daily and eventually, until that fix comes out, you will experience the same thing.

Patience, I am sure a fix is coming!

Yes guys and gals please quit bothering taking the phones back, it's obviously a software bug, a hardware glitch wouldn't only happen on the password box in the app store.  Just be patient I'm sure they'll fix it.  So far I've only had it happen 1 time in the many many times I've been in the app store with the password box up but even if it happened every time I wouldn't take it back.

I don't see any evidence that it's "obviously a software bug".  I've had it happen when opening a folder as well, so it's not only happening in one location in the os.  I'm not saying that it's not a software bug but I think it's just as likely a fairly widespread hardware issue as well.  Time will tell.  I took my first one back last Saturday after waiting a few weeks to see if Apple came out with a quick software fix to address it.  Since Apple hasn't acknowledged the issue, I figured it was fair to exchange my first one within the first 30 days just in case.  I couldn't get the issue to replicate in the store but luckily I took a video of it happening with my wife's phone and had her send it to me.  When they saw the video, they happily replaced it.  I haven't had the issue occur on my new phone yet, so I'm causiosly optimistic.  We'll see.

Mine is doing this as well (32gb white iphone 5 on Verizon).  I think it's a software glitch of some sort.  If it was hardware I think I'd see it elsewhere in the OS but it only happens when I need to enter my Apple ID password.  I really do think it's software but it does look similar to when your graphics card is going out on a desktop/laptop computer.  Maybe it's a bit of driver code that is off for the phone's graphics card?

I've had this issue as well on my first day of using the phone. Not seen in since then thankfully...

I've got the same issue on a 32GB iPhone 5. Happens pretty often when I'm using the keyboard. Glad to see so many others have the same issue because now Apple will have more reason to fix it faster.

I have the same issue  on a 64gb iPhone 5...happens often at the bottom of the keyboard. hopefully it is a just a software bug rather than a porblem with the physical screen.

I too have a 64 gig iPhone. They replaced the phone for the glitch problem. They said if this one had the same problem just wait for a software update. Well, the new one is having the same problem. It is not as bad but it is still the same glitch.

I've been having the same issue since getting my phone on launch day.

Two reasons why I'm hesitant to call this a software issue: 1) Although not everyone has had this happen, I've seen the screen glitch both in the password keyboard and when opening folders from the home screen.  The glitch happens in the same area in both cases; 2) This only seems to be causing issues for a small group of people (considering that millions of these phones have been sold).  If it was a software issue, everybody using the iPhone 5 should be seeing this issue since they're all running the same software (there may be some slight differences in the software depending on the cell operator/capacity model, but this problem seems to be happening across cell operator/capacity model lines).  My guess is that it's a limited problem with certain screens or the graphics chips.  As I noted above, I swapped out my phone just last Saturday and have not seen this issue occur on my new phone (the issue surfaced the first night I had my original iPhone 5).   Time will tell, but those dismissing this as a software issue should explain why the exact same software on the same hardware would behave differently without there being a hardware issue.
