Just talked to a gentleman named Paul at Apple Tech Support.  Aware of the issue.  Finally!  At last!  While he offered to arrange for the phone to be replaced, I told him my sense was that it was software and not hardware and that replacing the phone was an unnecessary waste of time and phones.  He essentially concurred.  Very apologetic and basically said that while it is obviously disappointing to have an advanced device and have to manually set the time, until the next iOS6x release comes out the issue will probably be part of our experience with the phone.

I certainly appreciated his candor, and am glad I finally talked to someone who was familiar with the issue and offered a realistic assessment of the situation.  From what he said, my sense is Apple is aware of the issue and working on a solution to it and that we can expect a fix in the next release of the OS.

I did suggest that he spread the word with his fellow support folks so that fewer Apple customers had the experience of a Support team member who was completely unaware of the issue.

The fix that is working for me is just to set Date & Time to manual for now, and wait for the next iOS release.

I hope that works for you.. BUT I did the same thing and it works for a while and then its back to the same issue. I can turn on my LTE service and within minutes the time and date will change to the wrong setting. I then turn off LTE. I go into plane mode then come out and the date and time are back to normal. Its The LTE service I am almost sure. I also think this issue is on verizon and NOT apple. We will see. As I stated before I dont really care who is at fault I just want it fixed. Apple and verizon continue to make millions of dollars daily from consumers buying there products and services. Is it to much to ask that they work correctly?

I tried this. I didnt work for me. I going back to keeping LTE OFF...  This seems to fix issue as long as you never turn LTE on.

I just want to update that I preordered 2 iPhone 5s and have been through all the trouble shooting, testing and complaining from the very beginning... I have stopped posting but I just want to say that my problem hasn't gone away...

I was promised by a Verizon tech rep that a fix would be coming out by the end of the week and that was 3 weeks ago. I expected bugs but am very dissatisfied at the way both Apple and Verizon are handling this. They are pointing the finger at each other while we spend our hard earned money on a service that we are not receiving.

This problem affects so much of the basic functionality of the device Verizon should be comping anyone with an open trouble ticket for loss of service until this issue is fixed.

I'm new to Apple and I'm left with a feeling that the devices are primarily hype and advertising and aren't really any better than any other consumer electronics brand.

I have been with Verizon for over 8 years and this is the first time I have felt like I was being brushed aside and given the dreaded tech support run around where no one you talk to does anything to help you and just sends you to one person after another. I even had one Verizon rep go so far as to call Apple while I was on hold and upon resuming the call pass me off to Apple tech support in lieu of even investigating the issue. SMH... Its a shame

Verizon refunded my data package price for the month.  I plan on calling and getting this refund every month until this is corrected.  Verizon will not fix this unless it has a negative impact on their revenue.  I want to make sure they are properly incented.

Ok I talked to support and now they are saying the master ticket is a mission critical ticket and they should get a response very soon and a fix rolled out. It seems it is now a matter of time before they get it fixed.

It's not just Verizon. I have Sprint and know others on different networks having the same issue. I hate that Apple is just blamin the carrier instead of figuring out the problem on their end and fixing it. I was told to reset the network. It worked for a few days. I do it every time it happens and I am tired of having to reset my Wifi every other day. I even set the time to manual and it ended up off by days. If manual time is off then it can't be the carrier's relay that is the problem. I almost missed an interview because of relying on my calendar. Now I am on hold for Apple and it has been over fifteen minutes. It's sad.

It's been one week now and  NO date and time glitch! I guess Verizon in Hawaii fixed their towers. If its happening you have to let Verizon know. I had the glitch happen every single day. Good luck!

I just got off the phone with a tech guy at Verizon again and this time they are definitely aware of the problem but are saying now that it is definitely an Apple problem.  He told me they are advising to turn the set automatically switch off and if that doesn't work to disable LTE. Seems like everyone on here was way ahead on that one! Since I just turned it off time will tell (no pun intended) but hopefully they will come out with a permanent fix very soon. I also have a name and contact info for someone at Apple if it happens again. Kudo's to all of you who got the word out today to all those tech news places. They can't ignore the problem anymore!  I am in Southern Illinois with a white 16g on verizon.

Ok guys listen up. I just left a friends house and he has the new Samsung galaxy 3 phone on the Verizon network. Guess what he has the same issue. So when they tell you it's a apple problem they are wrong. It's the Verizon network!!! So don't get rid of your iphone5. It's not the issue .

The problem has defiantly NOT been fixed in Hawaii. I live on Oahu and have the problem occur multiple times a day, every day since September 21st... Nothing I do helps... Nothing Apple has done helps... It simply doesn't work as it should

... And I should add that Verizon has done nothing, so that certainly doesn't help.

@Adamahaz- During one of my calls to Verizon, the rep told me that there were multiple different devices having this issue and I was sure to have her specify what she meant by device. She said she meant phones other than those made by Apple
