Re: MacBook Pro Retina display burn-in?

This is exactly the trap that people fall into when they read up on threads like this. Since it's already too late and your ignorance of the issue has been shattered, you now have to make the decision if you can live with the issue. However, first think to yourself it is actually an issue to you.
You always have the option to get the display replaced later on in the future when your IR really does get worse.

Yes I did but barely. I needed to do the test in order to see it. I kind of wish I never stumbled upon this thread. LOL! I would have never noticed it. Called Apple twice and they said some retention is normal from this type of technology. I have an appointment at the genius bar but I am thinking about cancelling because it's really hard to see. If they say they can replace it then I'll give it a shot. If not and if it really starts to bug me I might return it. the display is really amazing and if I read apples response in regards to IR and left it at that I would have been good but this thread has me literally going crazy.
Thanks for putting things back into perspective and ending the week long agony of reading this thread and obsessing with an issue that really isn't an issue for me. LOL! Just to repeat myself I have a MBPr week 41 LG screen. There IS IMAGE RETENTION but only the image retention described on the apple website.
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5455
I have decided to keep mine because the only way I can see it is if I use a gray background and let the image sit for around 5 or longer minutes. Once I minimize the image the IR is gone within 30 seconds...or maybe even 40. If I change the background to any other color I can't see it. I will keep mine and take it to Apple if it gets worse but I have been monitoring it closely and it has actually improved but lets just say it has stayed the same. Not really a concern. For graphic designers and people that rely on perfect screen...might be a good idea to purchase something else. For someone like me who is a music producer it works fine and I probably will not be able to notice the IR. I would probably notice a yellow screen even more but that's just me. The only reason I noticed it in the first place is because I accidentally found this thread. I hear the early LG screens were worse and have seen pics but mine has shown nothing like that and I have to admit at this point I am completely happy with my purchase. So bottom line...
LG - Slight IR that's barely noticable...only noticable on gray screen with a static image sitting on screen for awhile (for the good ones of course. I'm sure there are some faulty ones out there). It is temporary and will disappear under a minute. I checked the LG website and it appears they address image retention. Due to the nature of the technology this is typical for their screens.
Samsung - Some report yellow screen...sounds more of a permanent issue. Some say can be calibrated which is cool.
If you have any issues that fall out of the scope of what is described above you may have a faulty screen and apple will check it out and take care of you.
Guess we can take a poll on which you would prefer but for my profession it would be more of a task to generate the IR and be annoyed than booting up a my macbook and noticing a slightly yellow tint.
For those who can't live with these issues wait. The display really does look amazing. I can't imagine using another monitor.
