Please Send Feedback to Apple. If you have AppleCare, give them a call. If you have an Apple Store nearby, show it to a Genius.

I confirm the bug. The mouse pointer must be over a table, cells, columns, title, to start the CPU consumption and the fan to spin like crazy. Thanks to Jerrold for his orientation.

Same problem here, new MacBook Air 11" (MacBookAir5,1 i7, 8Gb RAM) when I work in Numbers it uses over 80% CPU, fans goes crazy and MacBook became unusable like a scorching frying pan.

Same issue with all four Macs in the house... 70-85% CPU usage while hovering mouse over a cell, even with computer idle. All OS's are updated; all versions of Numbers have been deleted and reinstalled. Top 2 Macs:
Mac mini (mid 2011) CTO
16GB RAM (even with 12GB being free)
128GB Samsung SSD
500GB 7200RPM HDD
MBA (mid 2012) 13" CTO
+ 13" MBP x 2

I started using numbers and it you right it dose use a lot of CPU. I stopped using numbers and use open office I wish I used open office first and its free. I do use Excel a lot but I can still covert my open office files into Excalibur and the other way round if I need to. I do find apple computers do slow down but you can't upgrade them I getting rid of my mac and I going to bulld my computer and put Linux on it and its free.

Thank you for that but the soft wear you said that talk to me I not really interested in. I do repairs and build pcs for friend. Windows 7 is so much better then vista. I made the mistake going to apple you haven't got no freedom at all I thought I have I woks and I use excel a lot but numbers looked quite good value how wrong I was. I do find you haven't got freedom with apple you get looked into there systems ate a walled garden.

" I do find you haven't got freedom with apple you get looked into there systems ate a walled garden."
What you´re talking about is the AppStore policy maybe. With Apple computers you have all the freedom to do what you wanna do with it, (limited by your personal skills of course)

Hey, friend, didn't you hear? OFFTOPIC (capital letters mean shouting).
We're convinced about Mac superiority and you're convinced about Linux's anarchy.
This is not the place to convince each other. Move on.

@Jackrussell dog, great to hear that you have decided what you wanna do!! Good luck on that! Whilst Apple users (I wouldn't use the word 'fanboy') are quite convinced of their products, there is good reason to be. You can't fault a few hundred millions of people buying Apple products for fools! And neither can one fault PC and Linux users for using what they believe in. But note that a lot of Apple users actually have given up hope on PC/Linux and moved on very well (life more streamlined and efficient, etc) with Apple stuff. I am happy to say that I am one of them. And there are also others who are intellectually-challenged to think that Apple software don't have or can't do stuff that is required or that a PC/Linux can. Mac OS will have a way of doing something - perhaps you're not smart enough to have found out about it yet! ;D
And regarding the website that I recommended you a few hours earlier - I think you REALLY do need it because it will... err.. help you. Umm.. here it is again, for your convenience, ching: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Talk-English-Beginner-Intermediate-Advanced/dp/B000066IV R
Or even this!:
Get the idea?!

As I said I had a iMac but I hate apple I want to delete my account rom the site. But to let you know I surfer from dyslexia
Currently Being ModeratedOct 23, 2012 10:24 AM (in response to Jackrussell dog)
If that is true, apologies. Not sure if you can delete the Apple account/Apple ID. You can still keep it and "let it rot in ****", as you see fit, unless you really hate it that much that you want to erase yourself from Apple's memory and go back to a time before you started.
... maybe Apple's Timemachine can help?! ;D

At lest I have freedom I did have a imac it was a very exepenisve toy Apple fanboys will believe just about anything they read
Henry Blodget, Business Insider
Jobs instilled a fanatic sense of discipline and loyalty within his fan base. So much so that his reality distortion field will long survive his death.
Apple fanboys today eat up anything Apple-related from media outlets and immediately trash anything that's remotely negative. You can see it on just about every website — including Business Insider I not waste ing my time with apple fanboys thay so stupid. Fanboys will buy anything with an I in front like if if Steve jobs dog done a s..t and put picked it up in a white plastic bac and put a I the Is..t then charge a few hundreds of pounds the fanboys would fall for it.
God it's a WASIT of time coming on here I was brainwashed but saw the light
