Jun 26, 2011 8:53 PM in response to sctmillerby sctmiller,★HelpfulThe Macbook AIr super drive is the remote usb attached drive. I have a CD stuck in it and it won't eject. Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem and how they solved it?

Jun 26, 2011 9:22 PM in response to sctmillerby slyguy_28,It's never happened to me, but if it did, I'd take the MBA and the SuperDrive back into the Apple Store...

Jun 27, 2011 7:44 AM in response to slyguy_28by sctmiller,Thanks Sly. I am going past an Apple store today. I was hoping there was some small hole for a paper clip to manually eject or something.

Jun 28, 2011 1:10 AM in response to sctmillerby FiveLittleFish,★HelpfulYou could try something that sometimes works on MacBooks - leave the drive plugged in and restart the computer. As it boots up, hold the eject key down.

Jun 28, 2011 8:23 AM in response to FiveLittleFishby sctmiller,Thank you - I did get by an Apple store yesterday and indeed he used asimilar technique. He pushed the click side of the touch pad while turning off the air and out popped the CD - it turns out the unit isfine - there was just something about that Cd (digital photsos) that messed it up as allother DVD's & cd's worked.
Thanks

Jun 30, 2011 2:46 PM in response to sctmillerby juliefromgeneva,★HelpfulI had the same problem. Additionally, the macbook would not acknowledge the superdrive with this crazy disc in it. The solution was to power down machine and start it while pressing the F12 key. The cd was spit out as soon as it powered up again. I did encounter problems powering down with the superdrive plugged into the USB port. I unplugged it, powered down, plugged it back in and powered up while pressing the F12.

Jun 30, 2011 9:37 PM in response to sctmillerby Silly rabbit,Solving it is quite easy and you don't need to jump through hoops restarting, holding down keys, visiting the Apple store, etc. Just create a new burn folder (or open Toast if you have it) dump some data in it and press burn. The disc will eject straight away. It is that simple!

Oct 19, 2012 7:18 AM in response to sctmillerby jhawkmatt,★HelpfulHey guys, I realize this is thread from over a year ago but it is one of the most popular results to come up when you google search it. So, I figured I would throw my 2 cents in.
I had a problem getting a disc to eject from an external usb superdrive. I had tried EVERYTHING.... boot up with eject button, disc utils, terminal, even tried to plug it into a windows machine and eject it.... nothing.
Anyway, long story short, I WAS able to get it to eject by turning it upside-down then clicking eject.
IT WORKED!!!
I just wanted to update this thread so anybody else had this issue they could add it to the list to try.
Hope it helps somebody else.

Nov 5, 2012 4:22 PM in response to jhawkmattby discography,Thank you for sharing - turning the drive upside down works for me to eject, and much more preferable than restarting.
There is certainly a technical issue with this drive.

Nov 20, 2012 9:04 PM in response to jhawkmattby mputzel,Thank you, jhawkmatt! I tried all the suggestions above yours trying to eject the very first CD I put in the brand new Superdrive. The drive made a lot of noise but refused to eject no matter what--till I turned the drive upside, as you said. That did it. You're right. Apple should have fixed this flaw by now.
