Greetings!

I am a former mac.com user, and I have retained my .mac email address with no problem after mobile me was discontinued.  I have not upgraded to lion.  Mail has been working fine.  All of a sudden, this morning, I can no longer send  mail.  I get a message:

cannot send message using the server smtp.me.com:(my email handle)

I can log into iCloud and send and receive mail ok.  Any ideas out there?

    smtp.me.com is a Mobile Me server, you need to start using the iCloud servers:

    I checked out the link you provided, and it verified that my outgoing server should be smtp.me.com, maybe this is because I am a Snow Leopard user.  But, anyhow, all my settings seemed correct.  Still does not work.  Thanks anyhow!

    You need to read it more carefully then: it does not say smtp.me.com:

     

    Full settings are below, note that the correct server (outgoing) is smtp.mail.me.com, then check the rest of your settings and correct them as needed.

    To those who give an owl's hoot, I had the same issue with my mac mail and I am way down the road using Tiger. But I used this info and was able to get it going again.

     

    It is frustrating that just out of the blue there are server changes and you have to dig around for an answer.

    But I guess that is what I get for using a free system.
