Same exact problem on the same exact car. It will always find my Bluetooth headset at home though just not in the car you have to go into Bluetooth and manually connect it every time. It is super annoying there needs to be a fix put out for this. Nice selection on the car BTW ; )

I've had the iPhone 5 since the 5th and my GF has the 4s which has the software update. Hers works fine with all of our cars Bluetooth systems my iPhone 5 has to be manually set up every time I get in either car which is a total pain in the butt. What is being done about this. This is not only inconvenient it is a safety issue, a legal issue and demands a solution now!

Check all of your paired devices on your cars and delete any references to old phones and you current iPhone. Forget any pairings on your iPhone. Set them up again.

My car remembers mine each time so there is no easy "solution" they can do. They don't even know what kind of cars you have.

I have done all of that. Still need to manually start from scratch and delete all paired devices which were my iPhone 5 today from every time I used the vehicle in each of my cars today. This is the iPhone 5. Doesn't happen with the iPhone 4S with the new update at all. It is happening to everyone I know that recently got the 5. Over 30 people with many different cars.

Not happening with my iPhone 5 and my BMW, not happening with a friends Highlander or another friends Mercedes Benz. I was also able to connect mine withe another friends Ford F150 with Sync.

Send the information on your phone and the 30 other people to here:

    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

Be sure to include as much detail as possible. This will help the engineers try to sort it out why yours are not working and the ones I listed are. Since it is not a global problem they need all the data they can get.

    Incidentally mine is a 2008 BMW 528i, the F150 is a 2010 Platinum model, the Mercedes is a 2009 C class.

Do any of the 30 people have these cars?

Uconnect (chrysler) have always had a checkered history with iOS and BT. My neighbor has a new GMC truck, I'll try mine on his tomorrow, if we have the same result would be good info for Apple. Friend who has the Ford F150 also has a Lexus E350, will try that also.

My phone now seems to work in my Silverado after I reset the phone and restored it, but the Silverado has an Aftermarket Rosen stereo with Bluetooth. It still needs to be manually set up each time I use the traverse. Time for a new car? Lol!

Having the same pairing problem with the iphone5 & bluetooth in my mdx. The Genius Bar guy at the Apple store told me to go to my car dealership to upgrade the software in my car.  Anyone else told the same? Has it worked? Shame on apple for not being more supportive on this matter!

Apple should provide these recommendations online. Such a waste of my time to go to the store.  I tried calling first & the customer support claims they never heard of this problem or about the iphone5 overheating.   Not a happy customer.

Have the similar problems to Bondgirl21. I can connect to my car, stream music to the stereo, but when someone calls, and I answer it does not connect - I can call them back on the Bluetooth though. It also doesn't work on my heart rate monitor for running.

As far as getting the car dealer or anyone else to upgrade, Apple told me the same thing, and they forget Bluetooth is not Apple, it is an industry standard. The car dealer will tell you the car is Bluetooth compliant, and they don't care if it is Apple or Galaxy - it is an Apple problem, not Bluetooth or car manufacturers.

It is pretty poor of Apple people to tell you it is not their problem, it is their problem.

Apple must comply to the Bluetooth standard, or stopp telling people they comply to it. I know several other people with iphe 5 and the same problems - it seems their implementaiton of Bluetooth on the iphone 5 is not using the Bluetooth chip, but the Airplay chip and "emulates" Bluetooth.
