I just installed Mountain Lion and in the new Contacts app all my telephone numbers are being automatically formatted with the area code in parentheses, which I do not like. In Address Book one could choose different formats (e.g., xxx-xxx-xxxx). I cannot find any way to do this in Contacts. One can turn off automatic phone formatting in Contacts in iCloud, but the option doesn't exist in Contacts. Am I missing something?
