Does it seem to prompt you with this error when reaching a particular track or piece of content within your iTunes library? If so, the file is corrupted and needs to be removed or replaced with a health one.
Some have been able to correct the issue, by rebuliding their iTunes library using the instructions in this article.

This could be an indication or a damaged or dying hard drive. I would recommend doing a disk diagnostic on the iPod's HD using the instructions given by turingtest2 in this older thread. He also covers what the resulting numbers indicate.
