Try resetting your administrator account password > Mac OS X: Changing or resetting an account password
This time make note of the password and store in safe place.

I have tried this, but not working. I have tried to go into Filevault to turn it on, but I cannot do it either. I am getting the message: Filevault is turned off for the disk "Macintosh HD" and cannot turn it on without the admin password we never put it

Why do you want to turn File Vault on? What does this have to do with your password issue?
What OS are we talking about? Since you appear to have an install disc, which might mean Snow Leopard or earlier (unless you upgraded) try this method
If it's Lion (and maybe Mountain Lion)

I have tried this, but not working.
More to the point, what happened when you tried this? Details needed. Again, what is your current OS?
