OK, sounds like same issue. (Glad to know it wasn't specifically my email migration that caused it.) At first I was closing my browser or opening a new one, but I've learned that doesn't seem to help anyway and to just wait it out and check back in 15 mins is better... Eventually it reloads your inbox.

Good point on WWDC next month. Crossing my fingers for an overhaul.

I have been a .macmobileme user since 2005. ICloud search is atrocious! Why should i pay for this when Gmail is free!

I have the same issues. Search does not work and there does not appear to be a way to access an apple rep to help me out. Any suggestions appreciated as this is something I need on a regular basis. I am used to instant results on gmail which I also use and do not pay for.

I would hold off until at least tonight is over with Matthewch as WWDC is on tonight and an iCloud update is more that likely to be announced which may be the reason they are holding off fixing any bugs until they have announced this as they might be overhauling the entire thing.

    I hope so, thanks Peter.

Have you tried searching with the "All" button selected?  If you're searching just by typing something in and hitting search, it's probably searching in the "From" field only, which, most likely won't return any results if you're searching for something other than a person.  Hope that helps.

I am just flabbergasted- I have same problem- with me after the search- I get a message that says the folder can't be loaded. WHEN I try to search, not only do i NOT get results, I am unable to see ANY emails in any folder until I log out and log back in again. Cripes- even YAHOO mail makes iCloud look like 15 yr old email technology. Color me stunned. I just assumed they would fix it in no time. As long as I am complaining- the SCROLL bar is worthless- if you move it a millimeter you zoom by 30 emails- no way just to to scroll down a few or a page at a time. Its just unbelievable

For the last couple weeks and still as of today, the Search function on iCould webmail does not work for me either. Also, once I have tried to search, the spinning gear shows up, never goes away, and I can't stop the search nor load any other folders back to normal view.

    Hello,

same issue here. iCloud gets really annoying... First the synchronisation of notes was broken. Now the email search issue.

    Apple Support

    Hello again,

as it turns out - as someone already mentioned before - the only mails that can be found, are only those, which are directly sent to the ...@me.com adress. All other mail that was moved per drag and drop from a different mailbox in Apple Mail on a Mac can't be found. Even forwarded Mails from @gmx.de to @me.com are not "indexed" and don't show up, if i perform a search...

The best for last: The mail search results on my iPhone are inaccurate too. The only way to get a correct search result is using Mail.app on Mac.

This is kind of a dealbreaker! Feels like Beta-Status. I regret moving my mails over to iCloud.

An official statement regarding this issue is highly appreciated.

I have to say not all iCloud is nessariliy bad. I find all the other apps pretty adequate and switching between them all couldn't be smoother. What I find a pain is Mail. It's so sluggish to load your emails and it's lacking so many features that Gmail has. I can't get over the fact that a company like Apple that can create so many amazing things that make me breathless can't get the most basic of things like email right!?

Something else I have found and maybe this is just my ignorance but alot of my VIP list has numbers beside it signifying that I have unread mail from those people but when I go in, all the mail is read so I never really know if I have mail from them or not without checking.

I also get an error message quiet often when I try and log in that says that iCloud must first be set up on a device which have of course done but it won't let me in. I just have to leave it and come back at a later stage and try again.

ahhh I could go on and on about the shortcomings of iCloud but I guess they are working on it or are they?

    Hello Peter,

don't get me wrong. I think the iCloud is definitly a cool service and makes the Apple-"ecosystem" even better, but as you mentioned implementing these "basic" mail functions shouldn't be a big challenge for the Apple developers.

At least the search should act like expected.

(And I'm not talking about the lack of push mail in Germany due to a lawsuit with Motorola and the fact you can't add a second sender adress other than the @me.com, @iCloud.com in the iCloud options. <-- This was implemented in MobileMe.)

I was an early poster in this thread and figured I'd share my general update:

I don't seem to get the "spinning search wheel of death" that lasts for 10 minutes anymore. I didn't do anything that would have fixed it, so don't know what to say there. Instead, searching often fails by coming up with a list of blank emails with date stamps of 12/31/69. Some searches work correctly now, some don't - I have given up trying to figure it out. It honestly seems very random.

I had also reported that it wouldn't search my non-icloud (imported) emails, but starting a few months ago it seems to have gained this ability. Again, I don't know why. This is only a minor victory however, since searching is still so buggy overall.

Search on my iphone has always worked correctly.

I also have the false "unread messages" button on my VIP list as Peter describes. And then it randomly goes away...

For good measure, other icloud issues I have in Firefox: I have the opposite problem of TimFinni - when I try to scroll the body of the email, it moves at a snail's pace. Additionally, I have some emails (i.e. emails from Groupon) that DON'T HAVE A SCROLL BAR AT ALL! Literally, you can't scroll down the email using your scroll wheel, but it does work if you use the arrow keys on the keyboard. These absurd issues seem to be specific to Firefox, so I'm not sure who to blame.

In summary - this thread appears to have no consistent theme that would point to "the issue". It just seems like an overall shoddy/beta service by Apple. I'm just taking it day by day and hoping things improve. I did submit reports to Apple awhile back.
