TIFF files can have multiple images as subfiles ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tagged_Image_File_Format#Multiple_subfiles ).

Here is one that I created using two separate TIFFs and imagemagick:

This file can be opened with Preview to see both of the images. Aperture, however doesn't seem to display the two subfiles, only the first. I understand that this is pretty standard for TIFF rendering, and a program is not required to show anything but the first, but I would have thought that Aperture would do something like a stack in this case. Am I missing a setting or menu item somewhere? Or does Aperture really not handle these additional subfiles?
