Q: says I have no updates

I have os x 10.5.8 and essencially I'm trying to update to snow leopard but I can't seem to update to the required 10.6.8. I've restarted my computered and checked for software updates repeatedly and it says I have none. Am I doing something wrong?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

You have to buy OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard by calling the online Apple store, which in the US is at 800-MY-APPLE. After installation and Software Updates, you can install iTunes 10.7.

You'll need 1GB of memory to run Snow Leopard, also.

And once you have OS 10.6 you will need to update to 10.8 via the combo updater. Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1

Perhaps you should first make sure your Mac is compatible.

Minimum specs for Snow Leopard. Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard - Read the Technical Specifications

2GB of memory might be the better option if your machine can accept Snow Leopard. You need the intel based version though.
