iPod shuffle (4th generation): Not seen in iTunes

Since I posted I have tried the iPod on a Macbook Pro - no recognition.
Any ideas?

I have reset the iPod using the instructions on here (and yours)
I am also using the cable that came with the device i.e. USB to headphone socket.
No luck so far,

System Profiler is located within the Applications -> Utilties folder.

Oct 30, 2012 3:29 PM in response to planb77by danielfromvalencia,@planb77. I am having the same problem. My old Shuffle is not recognized by iTunes (current version). I am using the correct cable and the connection is tight and the device indicates it is charging.
I check the System USB information and it shows it connected.
Now what?
Anyones help would be appreciated.

Thank you for all your help.
Was at the Apple store this morning and the problem was the iPod lead. Sods Law!
Got a new one and all is working well now.
