We'll need some more information: When you hover your mouse over the red exclamation mark do you get a message. What is your scratch disk how is it formatted and how much space is there? How exactly are you transferring the video? direct from the card?

First, I strongly recommend you use Preference Manager to reset preferences
Second, since you have both fcp and fcpX installed on your system, have you used the correct procedures for installing both on the same system?
You also might look into ClipWrap or Magic Bullet's Grinder and see if either can do the conversion.

Thanks for your help guys!
It says "Error: Stream Error" (Translated from german: Fehler: Stream-Fehler)
Why would there be a stream error??
What more does this Application do? (Pref Mangager)
I trashed the prefs in
user/prefrences/com.apple.FinalCut.plist (& the com.apple.FinalCutpro.plist one)
are there more prefs to delete?
Regarding the installation, I did as described...
For conversion I use the great free MPEG Streamclip App.. http://www.squared5.com/ Ill check the ones you mentioned.
I would prefer to do the conversion in FCP but I guess I can do it externally.
Would love to get the EOS Plug to work though...

Are you by any chance shooting 60p?
Currently Being ModeratedOct 1, 2012 7:26 AM (in response to mishmumken)
As I do shoot 60p for slow motion scenes, the majority of the clips are in 25p...
realy weird that nothing seems to help...

Try this: open L&T Preferences and uncheck "Remove Duplicate Frames".
Also: do you have fxFactory and/or Perian installed? If so, uninstall Perian and make sure fxFactory is updated.

Yes I did all those things, fx is up to date, perian uninstalled, l?t checkbox unchecked....
Anyways between checking out of the hotel I was in this past week while filming four couple on an after wedding shoot in Mallorca, Spain, my Macbookpro got stolen while it was in an assumably safe front desk back room... I only noticed minutes before checking in my flight at the airport... Went to the police and all... So I guess ill continue worring about this issue after upgrading to a new system... Maybe under Mountainlion itt will work... Does Finalcut studio do well under Mountain Lion?
