AirPlay Mirroring requires a second-generation Apple TV or later, and is supported on the following Mac models: iMac (Mid 2011 or newer), Mac mini (Mid 2011 or newer), MacBook Air (Mid 2011 or newer), and MacBook Pro (Early 2011 or newer).

I can Stream via "airplay" from my ipad and phone just fine. iTunes audio works as well.

Sep 24, 2012 8:58 AM in response to Royston123by ryan718su,I got mine to work again by resetting my wifi, which is built-in to my modem so its way more annoying than resetting a router :(

Oct 25, 2012 1:28 AM in response to garrettfrr landby julesnewtoMac,You say your software is up to date, but is is OS X 10.8? If you have 10.7 it will say it is up to date, because that OS is but it is still not supporting mirror.. You will need 10.8 as a new OS to mirror which you would need to purchase from the app store.

Oct 25, 2012 5:39 AM in response to garrettfrr landby AdamBritt,The up to date software is probably the problem. Do this:
To downgrade, you'll need to download the previous software version here: ATV3 http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-4361.20120605.grjot/AppleTV3,1_5.0.2_9B830 _Restore.ipsw
ATV2: http://appldnld.apple.com/AppleTV/041-4362.20120605.t8i4U/AppleTV2,1_5.0.2_9B830 _Restore.ipsw
Next, plug the Apple TV into your computer with a micro-usb cable (most phones today use these) and start up Itunes. It should detect the Apple TV in recovery.
After that, hold down Option on Apple or Alt on Windows and click Restore. This should open a window that allows you to select the software update you want to apply. Select the one you downloaded earlier.
It will then go through the restore process, which takes only a few minutes, and then you will be able to plug the Apple TV back in to your display and set it up again.
You will only have to do these steps once to recover the Apple TV, and it will give a message after it's done that it's ready to be set up again. After setup, make sure you don't update the software again.
I recently ran into a similar issue with a bunch of these things and after restoring them all to the previous software version they are working again.

Nov 23, 2012 11:58 AM in response to garrettfrr landby DBen110,I rebooted my router (Linksys E2000) and AirPlay is now working. First tried rebooting all AirPlay devices with no luck. Sadly, I have no explanation why rebooting the router solved the problem.
