New ipad (ipad 3) -does the signal loss just as reported reported here so please stop the denying on the thread - not helpful!. What is the solution? A soft reset helps but not permanently. So Apple - what is the deal - how many Ipad swaps do I need to go through to get one that does not have this issue. Going in tomorrow to swap this one. How many trips will I have to make to the Apple store until I gat a good Ipad? This one is gone tomorrow.
" How many trips will I have to make to the Apple store until I get a good Ipad? "
In my case three.
The third time I decided to get a Verizon iPad, At least then I can connect to the Internet when Wi-Fi doesn't work.
To my surprise the Wi-Fi on this iPad works much better. I verified this by going to My normal - two different coffee shops and a pizza place.
Perhaps there is a difference with the Cellier iPads - the Wi-Fi works better.
For me the Extra $130 is worth it - just for the Wi-Fi.
Wow, just found this thread after receiving my ipad3 and barely getting any wifi connections in town. My 7 year old Dell Latitude X1 can pick up signals from 300 feet that my ipad can't at 50 ft. I've tried all the possible remedies. How can anyone ignore that there is a problem after 95 PAGES of posts? Apple support did acknowledge a probelm but still won't say if it is a hardware or software issue. That is pretty lame. I guess I'll be returning it and looking at other options...
Apple must give us a new iPad4 for all these inconveniences...
I can't use it as I use my iPhone or as they announced.
I bought a lot of Apple devices
two 17" MBP
one 13" MBP
two iPhone 4
one iPhone 3GS
five iPod nano
one iPod Hi-Fi
one 2TB Time Capsule
one Airport Express
and never had been so unhappy with this iPad3..
I bought 2 iPad3 Wi-Fi at same day, same Apple Store but one of them is white. This one has the annoying problem. The black is OK until now.
I installed the Airport Express as bridge in my kitchen.
I only can achieve wi-fi signal on iPad3 if it's near a half palm from the Airport Express.
I don't have any problem if I connect to TC bridge 5GHz Wi-Fi.
My other iDevices connect to any of them without problem.
I'm testing now my two iPad3 both at same room.
The black iPad3 can connect to router wi-fi (WPA2)
The white iPad3 can't. It connects only to 5GHz TimeCapsule bridge wi-fi (WPA/WPA2)
The both serial number begins with DMPHGC
Please Apple do something...
I'm on my third iPad 3 and I think my problems are solved. I finally made it to the Apple Store to meet with a genius, briefly described my problem and walked out a few minutes later with a replacement, no hassle. Both units that I returned had serial numbers starting with DM. This one starts with DK and the wifi is working fine.
My iPad 2 was fine until a month ago, when I couldn't get onto the wifi network on the Dutch trains. Then last week, I started losing wifi when I was upstairs, one floor away from my modem. I'd been using it for almost a year with no problems, then suddenly, nothing unless I am in the same room as the modem. Not even when holding it as advised here. So problems are not restricted to the iPad 3.
